BSES Families,

What a week! We appreciate everyone's flexibility as we navigated the weather and learning. Here is hoping that next week is a return to normal! We have completed our first Flexible Instruction Day (FID) with success. Thank you to all of our families for supporting our students on Zoom and accessing Schoology. Despite the fact that we were only in school one day we were able to smash our school's Coin Wars goal of $5,000.00. We are thrilled to announce Bethel Springs has raised $8,048.78 in our Coin Drive for the Ronald McDonald House of Delaware! Many thanks to our generous families and to our HSA for all of the coin counting. We want to give Lauren Withelder a special shout out for organizing this important event. We were also able to hold our first bus meeting with Bus 23. We will meet with a different bus each afternoon to review safe and expected behaviors. Be on the lookout for more information about ways we can work together to ensure this once we have met with all 12 buses.

Garnet Valley Kindergarten registration for the 2024-2025 school year is open. There will be a Kindergarten informational night on April 18th at 6:00 PM. Parents with children attending Bethel Springs Elementary will attend the information night at Bethel. Parents with children attending Concord Elementary will attend the information night at Concord. To attend the informational session, your child must be registered by April 4th, 2024. Thank you and we look forward to meeting our new Kindergarteners!

Next week is the last week of our MAP testing window. All first through fifth graders take part in the Measures of Academic Progress (MAP) benchmark and growth assessment during reading and math workshops. CLICK HERE to learn more about this assessment.

Spelling Bee practice will be held on Monday, January 22. If your child would like to participate, please remind them to get off the bus as soon as they arrive and head to the library or RM 132 (they are attached). If you haven't done so already, please sign up by clicking here.

The BSES Annual Spelling Bee for students in grades 3-5 will be held on Monday, February 12th.

It’s been a wild two weeks of weather, but that didn’t stop our students from bringing in those loose coins, bills and checks to support the Ronald McDonald House! Due to another day home, we have decided to finish off Coin Wars, but we are beyond thrilled to announce that after four days of this drive, our school has raised a whopping $8,048.78!!!!! This goes a VERY long way to support the families who utilize the House when their child is getting treatment at Nemours Hospital. This is truly incredible, and the families and children at the House will be well taken care of because of YOUR support!

The students will hear the winning classes Monday morning, and we will list them in the s’more next week, along with a huge thank you to all of the helpers for this event!

3rd-5th Grade BSES Families!

Are you ready to attend our first ever Snow Ball Winterfest dance!?!? BSES HSA has put together a fun night of music, games, activities, food and refreshments for our upperclassmen plus an adult guest. Bring a parent, uncle, aunt, grandparent, older sibling, etc. to enjoy the festivities.

When: Friday, January 26th, 6-8pm

Where: BSES Gym

Who: 3rd - 5th graders + one adult guest

Price: $20 per couple

Dress code: Snazzy and comfy
