EMU Honors Orchestra
Five members of the HS Orchestra program attended an intense day of music making at the Eastern Michigan University Honors Orchestra day on November 8. The day was filled with rehearsals, master classes, and musical endeavors that ended with an evening concert. The day was experienced by nearly 100 string students across Michigan. What an exciting experience for these top notch students!
Team Building Activity
Students in Mrs. Brink's classroom were challenged to work as a team to build the tallest tower using spaghetti and marshmallows. They each had special jobs: the Director could give verbal ideas but could not use his/her hands, the Affirmer gave affirmations and could only use one hand, the Time Keeper watched the clock and could only use one hand, the other team member could use two hands. They definitely needed to work as a team to get the job done!
Veterans Day
On Monday, November 11th, Mr. Raab's 5th grade class decorated the VFW hall to honor our veterans. Such a great tradition!
Afterwards, Pine Street Staff and Students had the opportunity to stand united in gratitude for the brave individuals who have served in our armed forces. The annual Veterans Day Assembly was filled with history, words from students, a poem, placing of the V.F.W. wreath, POW/MIA ceremony, awards, flag folding, and Taps. Wayland Union Schools is honored to have the opportunity to recognize those who have served in our community. We thank you for your sacrifice.
Charlton Park Field Trip
This week, third-grade students from Steeby Elementary embarked on an exciting field trip to Charlton Park, where they had the opportunity to explore the rich history of our community. The students toured the park’s historic buildings, learning about early settler life, local traditions, and the preservation efforts that help keep the park’s history alive.
With hands-on activities and guided tours, the students were able to experience history in a fun and engaging way. The trip gave them a deeper understanding of our area’s heritage and sparked curiosity about the past. It was a memorable experience that the third graders will surely cherish for years to come.
