FOOTBALL SEASON KICKOFF INFORMATION 2025
Dear Football Families,
As we approach the end of the 2024–2025 school year, it’s exciting to look ahead to the upcoming 2025 football season! We want to make sure you and your athlete are well-prepared by sharing key details about the start of the season, our Middle School Football Camp, the Strength & Conditioning Program, and a tentative season schedule.
We’ve created a helpful document outlining everything you need to know to start the season strong.
Official practices begin Monday, August 25, 2025. Please plan for your athlete to be available starting on this date.
Keep in mind:
All players are required to complete four non-contact practices before they can participate in contact drills. Missing early practices may delay a player's eligibility for full-contact activities and limit their participation in team training.
🛡️ Middle School Football Camp
Our MS Camp is a fantastic way for young athletes to get moving, learn the fundamentals, and experience football in a fun, encouraging setting.
Cost: FREE
Whether your athlete is new to football or looking to sharpen their skills, this camp is a great opportunity to get involved.
💪 Strength & Conditioning Program
This August, Coach Emery, Coach Wichman, and Coach McKay will lead focused, one-hour sessions designed to improve strength, flexibility, and agility through age-appropriate drills.
Cost: $50
All proceeds go directly to support the LOMS Football Program.
We’re looking forward to an exciting season and can't wait to see your athletes in action. Stay tuned for more updates, including our tentative game schedule. Thank you for being a part of our football family!
Questions? Please email Coach McKay, david.mckay@lok12.org, or Coach Wichman, gerald.wichman@lok12.org.
SUMMER FOOD SUPPORT FOR STUDENTS
SUN Bucks
Introducing SUN Bucks, the new name for Summer EBT – a program that helps ensure children have access to nutritious food when school is out.
What is it?
Eligible families will receive $120 per school-age child to use toward groceries during the summer.
Who qualifies?
Most families who already receive benefits such as SNAP, TANF, FDPIR, or who qualify for free or reduced-price school meals will be automatically enrolled—no need to apply!
If you’re not automatically enrolled, you can still apply online for SUN Bucks.
Don’t miss out!
Watch for your $120 per child benefit arriving at the start of summer.
Deadline to Apply:
Applications are accepted now through August 31, 2025, on a rolling basis.

DISTIGUISHED DRAGON AWARD
Thank you for taking the time to recognize one of Lake Orion Community Schools' staff members for their excellence.
The intent of the Distinguished Dragon program is to ensure that staff members who go above and beyond their regular duties are appreciated. The additional effort or support can range from helping an individual to helping a group or any effort that seems worthy of praise.
The staff member can be nominated by a student, parent, community member or even their own colleague. We ask for the submitter's name and contact information to follow up with specific questions if necessary.
Please complete the form entirely so the individual can be appropriately honored for their contributions.
