SHS Weekly Update
November 24th, 2024
Principal's Update
This week we have school on Monday and Tuesday and then start Thanksgiving break.
Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday for a few reasons:
1. I don't have to shop for a gift for anyone.
2. Food and football all day.
3. I get to spend time with my family.
4. I get to take time to be reflective of things I am thankful for.
One of the things that I am thankful for is the amazing Strongsville community that supports the many programs that we have at the high school. I thought about this last week when I saw so many members of the community at the fall play as well as this Friday night when the hockey opener had full stands. Whether it's SIMB, PTA, Athletic Boosters, Chorale Boosters, or a multitude of other community support groups we are thankful for the amazing support that is provided to us from the Strongsville community.
Happy Thanksgiving to all of you from the entire SHS team.

Midterm Schedule
The button below has the midterm schedule. On midterm days transportation will run as normal. Students who are done with exams are allowed to leave. If a student can't get leave after their exams the will have to be in the cafeteria until busses leave at their normal time.
Lunch will be offered after exams at roughly 11am.
Polaris transportation will run as normal.
Running with the Mustangs
‘Running with the Mustangs’ is a new video series to celebrate the “heartbeat of Strongsville City Schools.” This new series highlights students, staff, and programs that make SCS a special and unique place. Click HERE for this week’s episode - a Winter Basketball Preview featuring interviews with student-athletes from both the SHS boys and girls teams.
Parking Lot Safety
Students walking in from the upper lot need to use the new sidewalk that was installed. Students continue to walk in the road in the morning. With the sun coming up so late this is not safe.
Principal's Leadership Group
This past week my leadership group met and had the chance to participate in some activities to promote collaboration, leadership, and problem solving. These students have volunteered to be a part of this group and are tasked with being role models for all students.
Throughout the remainder of the school year they will be working on variou projects to make SHS the best it can be.

MUSTANG SPOTLIGHT - MARYELLEN BLANKENSHIP, BUS DRIVER / SCS TRANSPORTATION
Mrs. Maryellen Blankenship has been a member of our Transportation Department for eight years. In addition to being a bus driver and interacting with students at all grade levels, Mrs. Blankenship has also been a Strongsville resident for 24 years.
“I love working with our District’s Transportation team! We have a great group of dedicated and professional drivers, aides, and office staff. The best part about my job is being able to interact with and encourage all of the children who are on my bus every day. I enjoy listening to their stories and I love their sense of humor!”
Thank you Mrs. Blankenship for continuing to safely transport our students to and from school on a daily basis! #ModelMustang
