Artist of the Month
The WESA Artist of the Month study is Peter H. Reynolds, writer and illustrator of The Dot. The book tells the story of a caring art teacher who reaches a reluctant student in a remarkably creative way. In Peter's book, the teacher inspires the student to begin a journey of self-discovery and creativity, starting with a simple dot on a piece of paper.
Every year on the 15th of September, creativity is encouraged and practiced in classrooms around the world. 192 countries around the world and 19 million people celebrate “Dot Day.” Last month, each student in grades K-5 focused on making their mark in unusual ways.
Project #1 - Students designed a dot on a worksheet named “Quiver.” Next, we scanned their dot using the QuiverVision app, using an ipad. Students were able to transform their dot from 2-D to 3-D, make it bounce, run through a dot maze and much more.
Project #2 - A collaborative project that is located outside of the office. Each student created a slice of pizza (1/8th), using marker and construction paper to create their favorite sauce, cheese and toppings.

Most of these dates are set, however, they can be subject to change due to unforeseen circumstances. In the top right corner you will see a date of when it was last updated so you can keep track of any changes that may occur. We hope this is helpful in your planning. 2024-25 WESA Events Calendar
