Dakota County 4-H Youth Teaching Youth Leadership Opportunities
Youth Teaching Youth is a cross-age teaching program open to all grades at LSHS. It's a great way to develop your leadership skills, acquire volunteer, community, and NHS service hours, and you can participate with friends! If you went to Lakeville in 4th grade, you might remember this program. A group of high schoolers, wearing colorful tie-dye t-shirts, visited your 4th-grade classroom and taught lessons about alcohol, tobacco, and peer pressure. Now it's your turn to lead that program!
I'm looking for students (grades 9-12) interested in visiting 4th-grade classrooms and teaching lessons around making healthy choices. The time commitment for 4th grade is 3 hours of teaching (total), during the school day, over the course of 3 weeks. Classroom visits happen throughout the school year. You teach with other teens and can sign up with your friends. You will be excused from class with your parent/guardian signing the provided permission slip. You will be responsible for making up any work missed during that time.
These programs are easy to teach! All materials are provided and there are training sessions scheduled for after school Nov. 30 in the community room. We will begin promptly after school and will conclude by 5 p.m. Teen volunteers must attend training prior to the classroom visit. New teens sign up here to attend the training. If you are a returning teen, sign up here.
Any questions, contact Rachel at reza0027@umn.edu.

On Wednesday, November 8, 15 Lakeville South High School student-athletes were honored with a National Letter of Intent Signing Day ceremony. The students were joined by family, friends and coaches in the Lakeville South Performance Gym as they were recognized for having been offered collegiate athletic scholarships, preferred walk on status or continuing to play at a Division I, Division II or Junior College levels.
βItβs been a real pleasure to watch these student/athletes grow as individuals. This ceremony allowed us to reflect on their past accomplishments and celebrate the next phase of life for these quality kids. They have provided leadership, integrity and character in all areas - the classroom, hallways and athletic arenas. As a school community, we say thank you and canβt wait to see the impact you will have on our next institutions,β said Mr. Chad Sexauer, Activities Director for the Lakeville South High School.
