TIGER TIMES
Back to School Edition - August 2023

NOTES FROM YOUR PRINCIPALS
Dear Titus Families,
Happy New Year!
Our first days back have been full of energy, smiles, and enthusiasm, and I was so happy to see our Tigers back in action. It’s shaping up to be an incredible year ahead, with so many great things in store for our school community.
One of the driving forces behind our success is our amazing Home and School Association (HSA), a vibrant group that works tirelessly to create lasting memories for our students and families. The HSA board has been doing fantastic work but would love to see more parents get involved to assist with event planning and coordination.
If you have a few hours to spare, your involvement can make a big difference in making our school community stronger and more connected. If you’re interested in volunteering or learning more, please reach out to our wonderful HSA President, Mrs. Elianne Crossland, at titushsapresident@gmail.com. Thank you for your support and consideration!
Wishing you a wonderful weekend ahead. Here’s to another year of success, growth, and joy for our Tigers!
Your Proud Principal
Mrs. Helen Sclama Zaleski
Hi Titus Community –
Happy New Year! Although it was not a full week (snow day on Monday). It felt like one! It was so nice to see everyone get back in the swing of things. Our students picked up right where we left off. I look forward to seeing the growth of our Titus Tigers here in the new year.
Everyone was excited to wear their EAGLES green today. These 4th grade boys were ready to go! Have a great weekend everyone and GO BIRDS!!!!!

5th and 6th Grade History Club
Does your 5th or 6th grader enjoy learning about the people, places, and events of the past? Then, they might enjoy being a member of the after-school history club. We learn facts, make things, and play games. This session, participants can also read or present to a primary class if they choose.
Winter session meetings will be on Tuesdays from 3:30-4:30 PM: February 4th- March 4th.
Space is limited, so there is a lottery to get in the club. We welcome returning and new members as the winter session has different topics than the fall. To enter your child’s name in the lottery, click the link below by January 23rd. You will be notified of your child’s status by the end of January. Any questions, please contact Mrs. Schorpp (teacher and club mentor). hniemeyerschorpp@cbsd.org
TITUS SCHOOL DAY
SCHOOL HOURS REMINDER
We are an "A" or early school, and our hours are 8:35 AM to 3:15 PM.
The morning kindergarten session hours are 8:35 AM to 11:10 AM.
The afternoon kindergarten session will run from 12:40 PM to 3:15PM.
START OF THE SCHOOL DAY ...
Please be aware that the school day begins at 8:35 AM in your child(ren)'s classroom(s). If you are a car rider in the morning, it is recommended that children are dropped off no later than 8:30 AM in order to get to their classrooms for the start of the school day at 8:35 AM. If a student arrives in their classroom beyond 8:35 AM, they are considered tardy. Parents will need to come into the building to sign their child in if they arrive after 8:35 AM.
The adults supervising the car-rider drop-off line will be on duty until 8:32 AM. Students dropped off after 8:32 AM will more than likely not be able to make it to their classrooms on time for the start of the school day at 8:35 AM. Also, for safety reasons, students arriving to school prior to 8:15 AM, need to be supervised by their parent/caregiver. We ask that all students wait with their family member in the drop off line until 8:15 AM.

DANCE & BINGO VOLUNTEEERS NEEDED
Hi Titus Families!
We hope you enjoyed a much needed break and that you had the opportunity to spend time with loved ones. As 2024 comes to a close, the HSA is already gearing up for a fun-filled 2025.
We are looking for help with two events coming up at the beginning of the new year. The HSA needs a parent (preferably 2) to chair the K-3 dance this year. The parent coordinating the 4-6 dance has offered to help with the initial planning, but she cannot run both events. Without parent volunteers to chair this event, a K-3 dance will not be held.
We are also in need of parents to help on the 2025 Bingo Committee. This is a great event, but it cannot run without the help of our Titus parents.
If you are interested in helping with either of these events, please email titushsapresident@gmail.com.
Sincerely,
Titus HSA

Winter Is Coming: A Reminder About Procedures in Case of School Schedule Change
With the official first day of winter on Dec. 21, CBSD families are reminded of district procedures should winter weather impact the school day schedule. You can find all related information on this webpage. If school buildings need to close or operate on a modified schedule due to present or pending weather conditions or any other emergency, the district will endeavor to communicate the schedule change to families as soon as possible. Please note that this year, CBSD will be utilizing Flexible Instructional Days (FIDs) should school need to close after the first use of a traditional snow day. You can learn more about the procedures for FIDs here.
LUNCH BALANCES
Please Remember to Pay Lunch Balances
Many students across the district currently have negative balances in their lunch accounts. We ask all parents and guardians to please check their MySchoolBucks account to view their balance and, if negative, to please make a payment. Even if you pack a lunch for your child(ren), they still may be purchasing cafeteria items.
To make a payment: Log in to MySchoolBucks and click MAKE A PAYMENT. Click CAFETERIA MEAL PAYMENT. Select or enter a payment amount. Click ADD TO BASKET. Click CHECK OUT NOW to complete the payment process.
For complete instructions on how to use your MySchoolBucks account, go to http://learnmyschoolbucks.com/Parent. You can also use MSB to monitor what your student is purchasing for breakfast and lunch and check your child(ren)'s account balance(s). If you have questions or concerns related to your child(ren)’s account(s), please call the Aramark Food Services office at 267-893-5758.

Kindergartners who attend the PM session will attend in the AM on Thursday, June 12 and their last day of school will be Friday, June 13 in the AM.
FLEXIBLE INSTRUCTIONAL DAYS
Info on Flexible Instructional Days, Expectations for Families and Students
A Flexible Instructional Day (FID) is designed for situations where school buildings need to close due to weather or other emergencies, but learning can still continue at home. Utilizing a FID allows us to avoid extending the school year or disrupting the instructional calendar as well as provides an opportunity for students to practice their skills and become more independent learners. Elementary and secondary students and families have certain expectations should a FID be necessary. Complete information, including an explanatory video with a translatable script, can be accessed on our FID webpage.

Homework and Summative Tasks Near Observances
New This Year: Limits on Due Dates for Homework and Summative Tasks Near Observances
In past years, the district has notified faculty in the week or weeks prior to religious or cultural observances to ensure they are cognizant of these events when assigning schoolwork. This year, the district has shared a year-long calendar of these observances with faculty and set guidelines on when no homework or summative tasks should be due.
Emergency Responders Tax Rebate
CBSD Thanks Volunteer Emergency Responders with Tax Rebate
If you are a volunteer with a local fire company or nonprofit emergency medical service agency, CBSD wants to thank you for your service by helping reduce your property taxes as a result of a newly enacted Volunteer Service Tax Credit Program passed by the School Board in Sept. 2024. To qualify for the tax credit, volunteers must be active members of an eligible fire or emergency medical services agency and earn points based on their service. Learn more

ATTENDANCE INFORMATION
Regular School Attendance is Critical for Student Success and Well-Being
As we begin the 2024-25 school year, CBSD wishes to remind families of important information regarding attendance. Pennsylvania's school laws, like Act 138 of 2016 and the updated Act 16, outline what is required for mandatory school attendance and procedures to follow when students are absent or late. Learn more

VOLUNTEERS
DON'T FORGET CLEARANCES ...
Titus will expect all potential volunteers to complete their paperwork for clearances prior to assuming any volunteer/chaperone role within the school. This will ensure we are in line with district and state expectations.
Who Needs Clearances: An individual who is responsible for the child's welfare or has direct contact with children. Pennsylvania law requires all persons having direct contact with school children to obtain background checks and clearances. In the best interest of the safety and security of our students, Central Bucks School District required the submission of these clearances prior to volunteering during the school year. Approved volunteers are given an identification card to be presented at the school (along with your photo ID, such as a driver's license) when volunteering. Please allow 7-10 days after you have submitted your online application for receipt of the ID card.
Additional information and steps on how to complete your clearances can be found on our district website by clicking here.
