Parking Permits for Juniors
Due to the number of parking permit applications, parking permits were awarded via a lottery system. Juniors will be notified by Tuesday, 9/10 if they have been given a parking pass. Students can then pick up passes according to the breakout below:

Students can come to the Main Office before school, after school, and during Lunch. To receive the pass, students must show a valid driver's license AND proof of purchase.
Parking permits must be displayed at all times while parked in an MHS parking lot during the school day. Failure to properly display your parking permit may result in being issued a parking violation. Accumulating multiple parking violations may result in a parking violation sticker being placed on the vehicle's window.
Art Department Donation Request
The Art Department needs full-sized aprons and old towels. Aprons help protect our students' clothing when they're using messy materials. Old, ratty towels make excellent painting rags and help eliminate waste from paper towels. All donated items need to be clean. Please drop off your donations at the front office.

Free School Meals for Students
All students in the Beaverton School District will be offered one free breakfast and one free lunch during the 2024-25 school year. Every student is enrolled automatically in the program.
Student meals include an entree, fruit and vegetable sides, and one milk. Students must take a complete meal to be eligible for the no-cost option; students who only opt for milk do not qualify for free milk. This is a federal requirement meant to encourage students to eat a well-balanced meal.
A la carte items such as milk, second entrees, and snack items will be sold when students have a positive account balance or cash.
From the MHS Library Technology Department
A reminder to sign up your student for Chromebook Insurance: Student Device Damage and Loss Protection Program for the 2024-2025 school.The insurance fee is only $20 and can be paid at the bookkeeper or through the Online Payment System. If your student qualifies for Free/Discounted District Fees in our district, the fee will be waived.
Since the fee for damaging a Chromebook without insurance can be as much as $440, we want to reach out and make sure that you know what could happen if this fee is not taken care of.
The window for opting-in to the insurance program will close on Thursday, October 10th. After that time, any damages that occur to unprotected devices are not protected and will be the responsibility of the student and family.
MOUNTAINSIDE HIGH SCHOOL CELLPHONE POLICY
Starting the 24-25 school year, ALL BEAVERTON SCHOOL DISTRICT OPTION AND HIGH SCHOOLS will have a consistent policy designed to continue to refocus student attention to learning, improve student mental health, and teach our students healthier habits of mind.
To ensure a focused and productive learning environment, CELL PHONE USE DURING CLASS TIME WILL BE PROHIBITED. Family communication is essential and students may use their cellphones before school, during passing times, during lunch, and after school each day. Students are prohibited from using cell phones in the hallways or bathrooms during class periods, and the cell phones must remain packed away when they leave the classroom for breaks.
If a student uses a cell phone in class, the phone will be immediately collected and can be picked up from the front office after school. We understand that some families may have unique circumstances that require their students to have access to a phone during school hours for medical reasons. We will work with these families to make the necessary accommodations. In the event that your child must call a parent or guardian, students may obtain a pass from their classroom teacher and use a phone in the office to make the call. In the case of a family emergency, families can call the office, and staff will connect the caller with the student or relay a message. These are the exceptions to the policy, and we ask for your understanding and cooperation in adhering to the general rule of no cell phone use during class time.

Announcement 1: Metro League Pink Week sales have now started! This fundraiser is happening at all of the Metro schools to raise money for breast cancer awareness and research. Even if you have purchased Pink Week clothing in the past, we hope you will consider purchasing again this year to help with this great cause. Proceeds will go to the Pink Lemonade Project whose mission is to educate, empower and support communities affected by breast cancer in Oregon and SW Washington. Announcement 2: Cards for the Elderly Service Hour this Wednesday!!
Hey Mavs! On Wednesday, September 11th, we will be hosting our first service hour of the year: Cards for the Elderly! From 3:35-4:30, we will be writing cards in the commons! These cards will be donated to Hearthstone at Murrayhill, where they will be distributed to elders in our community! You can earn 1 service hour and a snack for attending this event!

Club Applications are now available outside of Mr. Reinholt’s Office 163. Every club must renew every year. Clubs are encouraged to meet before school this year after 7:45 am (staff work hours). If you would like your club to have a table at the fair please get your application turned in ASAP.

Attention y’ll tech-savvy, cybersecurity-curious high school students! Are you ready to don your virtual capes and become the digital defenders of the future? Well, buckle up, because the Oregon Cybersecurity Challenge Cup (OC3) is back, and it's about to get epic!
This 'Capture the Flag' competition is open to high school students, college kids, and even professional hackers (you know, the good kind) from all over the state of Oregon. No experience is necessary – all you need is a trusty computer and an internet connection. It's like a choose-your-own-adventure for the cybersecurity-inclined, with prizes and a whole lot of digital derring-do.

PARENT DROP OFF PLAN
Traffic during the beginning of a school year can be very busy as new parents and new student drivers learn our system. PLEASE BE PATIENT with one another. You can help by leaving the house early and following the directions below:
Adults who wish to drop off students in the morning, or pick students up in the afternoon, are asked to do so using the student parking lot entrance off of 175th Ave. Please stay in the outside lane as your car comes toward the school and continue to pull forward until you reach the drop-off area located by the exit doors of the auditorium. Pulling all the way forward is critical as those who stop and drop off short of the zone end up causing backups behind their car. This creates a safety hazard, as other cars will be coming in from the light and won't have a place to go. Within the first 100 yards of the entrance to the lot, there is a red curb fire lane. There is no stopping or parking in this zone. If cars are backed up to that area, please pull around and circle back through the parking lot. Reminder, this is the STUDENT PARKING lot. PLEASE DRIVE SLOW AND BE CAUTIOUS.
PLEASE DO NOT USE THE STAFF LOT for pick-up or drop-off. The Staff Lot is reserved for Staff and for school buses.

Join Mountainside Ski Team!
Do you love mountain air and spending time with friends? Do you like to improve an old skill? If so, ski team might be for you! Beginner and intermediate skiers to experienced racers are welcome on Southwest Mountain Alpine Ski Teams, the training team for ISB, Mountainside, Sherwood, and Southridge Ski Teams! We invite Mountainside High School skiers to join us for a winter of fun, hard work, and maximizing your skills as skiers and ski racers. Info night will be held in October. Dryland practice begins mid-November, and on-mountain training begins in December. Six league races will be held in January and February. This fall we are very excited to offer football, volleyball, boys/girls soccer, and cross country. Reach out to the coach below for questions about a particular sport. Class of 2025, in sticking with tradition, seniors are invited to submit a senior photo and a quote to be featured in this year’s yearbook. Head And shoulders only no horizontal poses.

Props are okay as long as the face is visible.
It is not required that a professional takes the photo, but the resolution of the photo needs to be at least 300 dpi (8000x8000 pixels MAX).
