A MESSAGE FROM CYMS
Greetings CYMS Families,
It's Homecoming Week at CYSD! We hope to see everyone at the parade on Thursday, October 10th at Central York High School. All students are invited to participate in this week's Spirit Week.
We are excited to share that CYMS is now incorporating a brain break, previously known as recess, into the middle of the daily schedule for all students, offering a crucial opportunity for physical activity, social interaction, and mental reset. By embedding this break, students can step away from academic tasks, reduce stress, and return to class more focused and engaged.
As a reminder, the Parent Teacher Conference Scheduler on Skyward is now open!
Don't forget to check out our Annual Fundraiser Flyer below. Link to donate: https://cymspto.wufoo.com/forms/cyms-pto-fundraiser/
Have a great week!
With Panther Pride,
Mr. Jerry Eisner
Principal

Stop by Room 9 to see Mrs. Carlisle (kcarlisle@cysd.k12.pa.us) and find out how to join the “Fright Club” writing contest. All submissions are due by October 30. Encourage your writer to create their suspenseful mini-saga!
What are you waiting for? Enter if you dare! For more information, visit YoungWriters.
MATHCOUNTS IS BACK!
Does your student enjoy math or solving puzzles in their free time? Are they strong in mental math? If so, MATHCOUNTS could be a great fit! MATHCOUNTS is a nationwide competition program for middle school students, emphasizing speed, accuracy, problem-solving, and teamwork. This year, meetings will be held on Mondays after school from 3:00-4:00 in room 50. If a student is interested, they can see Miss Hanes (ehanes@cysd.k12.pa.us) in room 50, Miss Beck (kbeck@cysd.k12.pa.us) in room 39, or pick up a permission slip in the office.
FAMILY FIRST HEALTH (FFH) MOBILE SCHOOL DENTAL PROGRAM
The Pennsylvania Department of Health requires a dental screening for all children on original entry into school, then again in grades three and seven. If you haven’t submitted a private dental report for your child, your child’s mandated dental screening requirement can be completed at school with the Family First Health (FFH) Mobile School Dental Program. On November 20th, Central York Middle School will provide an opportunity for seventh-grade students to participate in dental screenings that fulfill the mandated requirement. This exam is a visual screening using a mirror and explorer. The results will be sent home with children to inform parents of concerns. There is no cost to families. If you haven’t submitted a private dental report for your child, we encourage you to consider having your child participate in our in-school dental screening. If interested, please review and return the attached form by Friday, November 15th, to ensure your child's participation.
Thank you for making your child’s dental health a top priority. If you have questions, please
contact CYMS’s nursing office at 717-846-6789, x1520 or bkopelic@cysd.k12.pa.us.
Respectfully,
Becky Kopelic BSN, RN, CSN Certified School Nurse

IMPORTANT STUDENT PICK UP REMINDER
If your child needs to be picked up early from school, the adult picking them up must be listed in your child's Skyward account. If they are not listed, the parent must notify the school office in advance via phone, email, or written note.
To avoid any delays, please take a moment to update your child's emergency contact information in Skyward. This will ensure a smooth and safe pickup process.
CYSD DEVICE PROTECTION PLAN
Central York School District offers optional protection plans for your child’s district-issued devices.
The protection plan fully covers your child’s device for any accidental damage that occurs. The cost is $25 per year for iPads and $60 per year for Macbooks.
