7:50 first bell, students to class

7:55-3:20 school hours

Lunch Reminder: Add funds to your student's lunch account if they plan to buy school lunch on the first day.

Monday, August 26th: Marie Murphy students will practice our Tornado, Lockdown, and Fire Drills. If you have questions please email Principal Ryan (ryane@avoca37.org).

Uniforms for PE: August 30th will be the first uniform day in PE.

Schedule Names: Maroon & Gold Days

We have new names for our various schedules. Maroon will be the name of our schedule that typically runs on Monday and Friday. Gold will be the name of our schedule that typically runs on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. These are the days of the week when we have Advisory or Viking Time. This is something that will be helpful to students and staff as we work to keep the schedules organized.

Marie Murphy Therapy Dog

We are excited to welcome back "Millie" our therapy dog. Millie's handler is our social worker Jill Silverman. It is our goal to always provide a safe environment for learning for all students. Interaction with our therapy dog is completely optional. We understand that many students have allergies or fears related to dogs that will prevent them from interacting with Millie.

In the event that a student does not want to interact with our therapy dog, due to allergies or a fear of dogs, we will offer social work services in a separate room from our therapy dog. Please email the social worker directly with your needs so that we have documentation of your student’s needs at silvermanj@avoca37.org.

Drop-off Traffic Pattern

The safety of our students during drop-off and pick-up relies on our ability to work together as a community and follow the traffic maps. Please familiarize yourself with the traffic maps below prior to the first day of school.

Morning Drop-off: Parents picking up a child may only use the east entrance. The west entrance is for bus use only. Please pull into the lot and immediately turn right down the first aisle. Students should be prepared to exit their car by the main door.

We know traffic will be difficult in the morning. Please arrive by 7:45am or slightly before to ensure students are not tardy to school.

Pick-Up Traffic Pattern

Students will begin to exit Marie Murphy immediately at 3:20pm. Cars picking up a student may pull up to the front of the school or wait in 1 of the 3 rows of the parking lot. We will move traffic along as quickly as we can.

Please keep your eyes alert for children going to other cars as you drive out of the lot.
