Goodbye and Best Wishes to Mrs. Maz!

Dear LMA Students and Parents,

As I bid farewell to LMA, I want to express my heartfelt gratitude for the incredible experience of the past three years.

To our wonderful students, you have amazed me with your dedication, kindness, and enthusiasm. I am so proud of you. I’ve seen your successes and loved celebrating with you. I’ve seen you fall and get up stronger than before. Seeing you thrive in your classes and embody the spirit of our school, especially during those unforgettable spirit days, has been truly inspiring. Your laughter and positivity have made this journey SO memorable. To our supportive parent community, thank you for your unwavering support and trust. Your involvement and encouragement have been instrumental in creating a nurturing environment for our students to flourish. Legacy is truly a special place. And a Warm Welcome to our Interim AP!

Ms. Tracey Vander Hayden is currently Legacy’s Interim Assistant Principal. She is a recently retired principal of thirty-two years. She has been a TUSD principal for 24 years. Ms. Vander Hayden was the proud principal of Pioneer Middle School for 12 years, Hewes Middle School for 8 years, and Estock for 3 years. Under her leadership, all schools have been recognized at the national, state and local levels. In addition to being a principal, Ms. Vander Hayden is an adjunct professor at Concordia University in Irvine (CUI). For the past 15 years, Ms. Vander Hayden has served as a professor in the Masters of Art in Education and Administration programs, she is a coach for principals, and she is a Site Supervisor for teachers earning their CA administrative credentials. Ms. Vander Hayden resides in Orange County. Her 28-year-old son attends Harvard Business School, and her daughter is USC’s Digital and Communications Manager. Both of her children are expecting babies this winter and she will be a “Nana” for the first time to two girls! She is very excited about being a part of the TIDE community.

All students who wish to park ebikes on campus MUST attend a session.

School Site Council Nominations

The Legacy Magnet Academy School Site Council (SSC) is now accepting nominations for parent members on the SSC. This is a two-year term, August – May.

The School Site Council serves the students and the school by:

Developing the School Plan with teachers and support staff
Implementing the Plan, putting it into effect for student learning
Evaluating the Plan to see if it is helping all students
Verifying and assuring expenditures in the School Plan are used to improve academic performance of all pupils.

Parent members of the SSC are expected to:

Attend the meetings (Sept. 18, Dec. 4, Feb. 19, April 30 from 3:00-4:00)
Actively participate in SSC responsibilities
Represent parents in the neighborhood and community
Become knowledgeable about the School Plan through training provided in September or October each year.

If you are interested your name will be placed on a ballot for an election.

PAST EVENTS

First Day of School

Welcome and happy first day back! Teachers and ASB students welcomed our Legacy community onto campus with music, a fun photo backdrop, and maps of the school. Even CLYDE THE TIDE was there having fun! We hope you had an LMAzing first day!

Musical Chairs Lunchtime Activity

Yesterday was our first lunchtime activity of the year, musical chairs! Students competed for RISE Tickets. What a fun way to start off the new school year!

UPCOMING EVENTS

HS Welcome Back Social

Next Friday at Irvine Lanes, all high school students are invited to ring in the new school year by bowling with friends! Pizza, drinks, and shoes are included with the price of the ticket! Purchase tickets at the TIDE Shack or the LMA ASB website: www.lmaasb.org

MS Welcome Back Dance

MIDDLE SCHOOLERS! Celebrate the new year with your first dance next Friday, 8/23! Join us for a picnic-themed social, where there will be snacks and drinks available for purchase.

Senior Sunrise

Seniors! Enjoy breakfast with a view on Friday, August 30th from 6:00 - 7:15am. We will watch the sunrise and welcome each other into the last year of high school!
