From the Spartan Wellspace - Stress
Stress is a universal experience, but some handle it better than others. The reason why some are better at overcoming stress is their use of coping strategies and resilience. To increase our capacity to handle stress we need to dedicate time to grow our resilience, practice coping strategies, set boundaries and take time for self-wellbeing.
If you are feeling stressed, some coping strategies you can try including mindfulness, physical exercise, or actively trying to change the stressful situation. For example, you can change your expectations. Furthermore, you can take responsibility for the situation and initiate change yourself by engaging in problem-solving, or you can distance yourself from the stress, amongst many other options. Regardless of what you chose you must act to actively change the situation for yourself.
You may also be a situation where you have no power over the stressful situation, which is where you would rely on your resilience. Resilience is your ability to overcome stressful situations. Resilience can be fostered by having a good foundation in both physical and mental health. To grow your resilience, you can try to get more sleep, have a healthy diet and a regular exercise. One should also take time for self-wellbeing, for example, taking rest periods throughout the day, practice mindfulness activities, and fun activities daily. I hope this short paragraph was able to inspire you to take some time to battle stress and be proactive in fostering your resilience.
Best Wishes,
Ms. Frankie
