⛄ Winter Break December 20th - January 6th ⛄
What's Happening This Week:
Hello, wonderful families! ❄️✨
As we embrace the cozy winter season, I hope you’re all staying warm and enjoying the magic of this time of year! Our first graders have been busy learning and growing, and I can’t wait to share what we’ve been up to and what’s coming next. Let’s dive in!
Last week
We had a fantastic week filled with fun activities and learning experiences! The students engaged in various hands-on projects that sparked their creativity and curiosity.
Next week
Phonics: We will continue to practice the soft sounds for the letters c and g. Students will read and write words with the long i sound followed by a consonant and silent e. Please continue helping your child distinguish between long and short vowel sounds and the hard and soft sounds for c and g.
Spelling Words:
mine
nice
line
ride
time
white
slice
bike
after
call
large
her
Reading: In reading, we will begin Unit Six - Stories Teach Many Lessons. We will focus on the author’s purpose of the story and the lessons they convey. When reading with your child at night, please encourage them to look at the cover and take a picture walk, think about any questions they might have about the story, and then answer those questions after reading. Ask your child questions about the books they are reading and have them retell the characters, setting, problem, solution, and what happened at the beginning, middle, and end! 📚💡
Math: We will continue with Unit 5, focusing on understanding that the equal sign means both sides of an equation represent the same value. Students will determine if addition and subtraction equations are true or false and find missing numbers in equations. We will also learn about the Associative Property of Addition, which shows that three numbers can be added in different ways, and the sum will always be the same! For more information on how to support your child in math, please click here for the Unit 5 Family Engagement link. ➕➖

Encourage your child to read daily and discuss the stories together.
Keep an eye on the calendar for upcoming events and important dates!
Until next time!
Thank you for your continued support and involvement in your child’s education! Together, we are making this a wonderful year of learning and growth. Stay warm, and I look forward to another exciting week ahead! 🌟❤️ """
