January 2024 - We are Outstanding!
OFSTED and Catholic School Inspectorate both award Outstanding Status
Dear Parents and Carers,
We are delighted to attach our OFSTED and Catholic School inspection reports which can be shared with the wider school community today.
We are thrilled that both inspections have awarded Outstanding status on all aspects of our provision. Only 14% of Outstanding schools re-inspected by OFSTED under their current framework have retained their status, so it is an amazing achievement for us all and is a testament to the great education that our students receive.
The OFSTED report speaks of pupil enjoyment at school, how they love their lessons and that they are eager to learn and fulfil the high expectation of staff. Students "behave incredibly well.. demonstrate positive attitudes to their education and interact respectfully with each other."
Special Educational Needs is a major feature of the inspection and all of the inspection team tracked the attainment, progress and wellbeing of children with SEND. It is good that the team have recognised that "Leaders have made sure that the systems for identifying pupils with SEND are rigorous.. parents of children with SEND were extremely positive about the school and the progress their children make here."
As an outstanding school, OFSTED has not set us any areas for improvement.
Our Catholic School Inspection report is longer and more detailed, the team highlight four areas of our work:
- Exemplary pastoral care is offered to pupils, staff and parents alike, strong and positive relationships are at the heart of this school.
- Strong religious education subject development leading to clear and achievable targets for improvement.
- A strong sense of community with St Cecilia’s Catholic mission and life lived out within school and beyond its gates.
- Pupils show care and respect for one another, rooted in their understanding of their responsibility to bear witness to Jesus Christ.
The team appreciated our Mission weeks and has asked that we extend these further so that there are even more opportunities for student leadership in the future.
Thank you parents, for all your support for the inspection processes. Many of you met with the inspectors in person, either at the gate or through their focus group meetings. We have been told that parents replied to their questionnaires in great detail and length and that hundreds of positive messages were received.
Both inspection teams validated the work of the Governing Body and teams around the school, at all levels, in maintaining outstanding provision here at St Cecilia's over a long period of time. They analysed our improvement plans for the future and felt that we were very much on the right track, they recognised that we know our school very well. We look forward to working with you to continue our Outstanding journey and thanks once again for your tremendous support which is clearly recognised in both reports.
With best wishes,
Vince Burke
