RAISE FUNDS AND HAVE FUN!
Here at Roosevelt, we have many students participating in the Backpack Food Program--which provides food and snacks for weekends and non-school days to kids who might not have enough to eat otherwise. This AMAZING program is part of Feeding Our Communities Partners which our PTO helps support by raising money for their annual Climb2Feed Kids event. This January, the PTO donated funds but were unable to participate in the climb due to unforeseen circumstances.
If you would like to help support a great cause AND make it fun for your Roosevelt Raccoon, please consider donating to the Raccoon Dress Up Days! Our goal, per student, is $1 per day but we realize that this is not realistic for everyone so to participate, give what you can $0.01 to $20, whatever works for you and your family! Raccoon Dress Up Days will be March 4th through March 7th.
Monday: Sports Day (Dress up as your favorite athlete or wear one of your own uniforms!)
Tuesday: Book/Movie Character Day (Please make sure characters are school appropriate, no weapons or props.)
Wednesday: Beach Day (Bring a beach towel, wear your shorts/t-shirts, or swimwear over clothes.)
Thursday: School Spirit Day (Wear red, black, and Roosevelt gear!)
SAVE RECEIPTS FOR SCHOOL SUPPLIES
The Minnesota Department of Revenue offers two valuable tax benefits for parents who purchase school supplies for their K-12 students: the K-12 Education Credit and Subtraction. These benefits can reduce parents’ taxes to increase their refund, but are only available for those who keep their receipts. Purchases for most school supplies, field trips, and musical instruments for school band are eligible.
Most Minnesota parents qualify for the K-12 subtraction, which reduces their taxable income. Parents under certain income limits may also qualify for the K-12 credit, which can refund up to 75% of their costs – even for parents who do not owe any taxes. PTO purchases yearbooks for all 5th grade students. Please do NOT purchase a yearbook for your fifth grader!
CHECK OUT THE LOST AND FOUND!
Please encourage your children to check the lost and found for missing items. It is overflowing! Any items left after spring conferences will be donated.
Music Program: Kindergarten/2nd Grade/4th Grade: March 19th!
Our concerts will reflect a lot of what we are learning in music class. They will incorporate singing as well as instruments and occasionally we may have a dance or two to highlight the form of the piece.
Our next concert is coming up on March 19th at 9:30 and 1:00. Our Kindergarten, 2nd, and 4th grade students will be performing. Both performances are the same. Please join us at one or both performances!
