Olympic Middle School
Weekly Memo 12/9-12/13
Dear Olympic Families and Staff,
We’re off to a fantastic start to the second trimester! Thank you for your continued partnership as we work together to support your student’s growth and success.
Important Dates
- Report Cards: Students will bring home their report cards on Friday, December 13th. Please take a moment to review them and contact your student’s homeroom teacher if you have any questions or concerns.
- PLC Early Release: On Wednesday, December 11th, school will dismiss at 1:00 PM for our Professional Learning Community (PLC) day.
- Native Ed Parent Advisory Committee Meeting: This month’s PAC meeting will be held Wednesday, December 11th, at 5:30 PM at SHS.
Recent Highlights
Last Friday, our students enjoyed an exciting and competitive exploratory time! From fun games to the infamous cookie challenge, it was a day full of laughter and team spirit. Be sure to ask your student about their favorite part—we heard some great stories!
Focus for the Next Two Weeks
As we approach the holidays, our focus is on finishing the year strong. We’re encouraging all students to follow our school expectations:
- Safe
- Open
- Authentic
- Reliable
This time of year can bring a mix of excitement and stress. To support students, we’re working hard to maintain a structured and predictable environment.
Supporting a Positive School Climate
We’ve noticed an increase in verbal conflicts among students recently and are addressing each incident with care. Our approach includes:
- Teachers working with students individually or in groups.
- Counselors assisting with friendship and social issues.
- Support staff listening and providing guidance.
- Administrators investigating situations and collaborating with families to resolve issues.
Please remember that student information is protected by FERPA. While we prioritize transparency, we cannot share specific details about other students involved in incidents. We appreciate your understanding and trust as we work to maintain a safe and respectful environment for all.
As a reminder, please discourage your student from bringing energy drinks and large bags of chips to school. The sharing of chips has become a distraction in class and during lunches, leading to hurt feelings and, in some cases, theft.
