Goal Setting and Student Achievement
As you likely learned at conferences or through last few weeks of school, your child has been active in goal setting. One of our school-wide strategies to increase student achievement at Westwood is to engage students in setting child specific SMART goals, sharing these with families, and working to accomplish these goals as a team. A strong partnership between teachers, students and parents and working toward a common goal is a great strategy to help our students grow! Thank you for supporting this at home!
WILD PRIDE Celebration!
Westwood students reached their first goal! An important part of maintaining positive behaviors at school is recognizing students for following expectations. Being Respectful and Responsible to our self, others, property, and community is our Wild Pride mantra and the foundation for our teaching of expectations. We use tickets to recognize the expected behaviors and attitudes we want to see in our students. When students earn enough tickets, we CELEBRATE! This first celebration was a grade level dance party.
Socktober
Westwood Student Council is collecting socks! That's right, all month long you can help our community by donating new socks as a part of a schoolwide drive and friendly competition!
Pictures are Ready! 📸
Pictures are ready! Click here for info regarding the ordering process. If your child missed out or would like retakes, photographers will be back at Westwood on November 7th!
Veterans' Day
Attention veterans and active service members of Westwood students and staff! The Westwood Student Council invites you to our annual Veteran's Day Breakfast. See the linked flier to register and participate in our digital presentation which will be on display and shared with our Westwood community.
Thank you to our Zimmerman-Livonia Fire Department!
Our local department has been incredibly supportive of our school. These volunteers show up at our Walk-a-Thon, Fire Prevention week, Veterans' Day, Christmas caroling, first responder dodgeball, and much more! What a wonderful example of community service you have set for our students and school community. Thank you Chief Maloney and all of the wonderful department fire fighters. We appreciate you!
Bus Misconduct Matrix
Please continue to speak with your child about bus expectations if they ride. In order to ensure students are safe and drivers are focused on the road, students must follow all expectations. We will continue to communicate and follow up on bus driver reports from Vision Transportation. Below is the matrix that is used as a part of the decision making for consequences.
PAC Walk-A-Thon Results!
Thank you for helping make this year’s PAC Walk-A-Thon a huge success! As a result of your generous support, Westwood Elementary students raised over $21,000!
