Dear Parents/Carers,
We have had a very busy second week back to the Autumn Term as we launch our initiatives for the new academic year.
I have been overjoyed to hear from yourselves how pleased you are that your children are settling well into their new classes. There is a real buzz of enjoyment around the building with pupils sharing how pleased they are to be back.
On Monday, our youngest pupils started school with us initially on a reduced timetable, working up to full days on Thursday and Friday. The pupils have made such a good start that we feel they have been with us much longer! I would like to extend a warm welcome to our new parents and carers and will look forward to seeing you in the coming weeks.
On Thursday, Year 1 and 2 parents and carers had the opportunity to come in to school and ‘Meet the Teacher’. Thank you to Mrs Nortcliffe and Miss Sharp for holding this meeting and giving an insight into the expectations for the year ahead.
On Friday, we were visited in school by Mrs Welford – one of our wonderful parents - who works with schools supporting to raise pupil financial awareness through HSBC bank. In our awards assembly, Mrs Welford presented Larks Hill with a beautiful glass trophy for our participation in the programme. We look forward to working with Mrs Welford again this year.

Headteacher Awards
This week both Lottie F and Monroe D have received a Headteacher Award for reading. Monroe entered into the Pontefract Library Summer Reading Challenge and excelled by reading well over the amount of books she needed to read and Lottie was so excited to share with me how she has found a real love for Roald Dahl books over the summer. She is now working her way through all of his collection! Well done to both girls.

Recycled School Uniform
Communication was sent out last week regarding the amount of school uniform we have acquired over the last year and offering parents/carers the opportunity to call in and collect any pieces you require. I am pleased to confirm that this initiative has been very well received. If you are in need of any item of uniform or if you wish to donate any quality items of uniform clothing, please do contact the school office.
I hope that everyone has a lovely weekend and well done once again to all our newly appointed leaders. What an exciting year ahead!
Yours Sincerely,
Mrs Adams
