A MUSICAL MASTERPIECE OF A WEEK IN #HAYNation!
Yelle Newsletter for March 29th!
Hello from the Yelle.
Another incredible week highlighted by our 5th Grade Band Concert on Wednesday! It was so impressive!
As I try to do each week, I use the big picture above to tell the story of the week in pictures for us here at the Yelle.
This week the Big Picture starts on the top row with students from the Band concert. I know I mention it below, but the perseverance, determination and effort of musicians impress me so much. I gave up my instrument pretty early, so I always give great reverance to musicians, and our 5th Grade Band students under Mr. Dufresne's leadership has been phenomenal this year! #WayToGo! The middle row are pictures of our students working together, working hard, and getting ready for MCAS; they do a sensational job! The bottom row starts with a picture of our #PositiveSignThursday picture exclaiming that We MARCH Together, as our students are exiting another month having done an absolutely fabulous job throughout the month. And the final picture is of a couple of our students with JiJi, the everpresent penguin mascot of ST Math. These two students were recognized for crushing their ST Math puzzles this week with over 1,000 puzzles completed in just this week. The whole school is engaged in an ST Math March Math-ness tournament where classes are matched up bracket-style against one another with finished puzzles is the measurement. On Monday, we will be down to the Final 2 Classrooms battling it out for our 1st ever ST Math March-ness Championship. More to come ...
These and the other pictures from Twitter below really do relay a story of the amazing accomplishments our students and teachers achieved in just this one week of school. Please check them out below and all over our Twitter feed to help to tell the tremendous story we are writing this year.

Spring 5th Grade Band Concert Success
After months of practicing, planning, and rehearsing, our 5th grade students came together on Wednesday, March 27th, to perform their first concert of the year.
This year's 5th Grade Band is a mixture of students who began playing in the 4th grade, and students who picked up an instrument for the first time just this past October. We are so incredibly proud of their hard work and dedication to learning an instrument throughout the school year.
It was a truly wonderful evening of music! If you missed it, please check out the
@HAYSchoolNorton Twitter feed for videos of all songs performed!
It was a sensational night! Congrats to Mr. Dufresne and all of our incredible
5th Grade Musicians! You truly SHINED!
SO PROUD OF YOU!

Yelle Spring 2024 MCAS Schedule
Our 2024 ELA MCAS administration starts on Tuesday, April 2, and then Wednesday, April 3
for our 5th Grade students, and then
Thursday, April 4 and Friday April 5th for our 4th Grade students.
You may not believe this but our students like our MCAS Days.
How might you ask?
Well, our students start their day with a morning Recess, then a Snack, then a couple of hours
set up for testing, then an Afternoon Recess and Lunch, with their Special happening in the
afternoon.
It's a day we just ask for our students to take their time and give their best effort.
That's all we ask.
Other than the testing, the day is very nice for them.
Please just wish your kids to do their best on those days.
That is all we ask.
Any questions, please let me know.

Spring Service Clothing Drive to Benefit Cradles to Crayons
Our Norton Middle School Project 351 student ambassador this year is Courtney Bailey and she is seeking all of our help with her Spring Service Project to benefit Cradles to Crayons.
Check it out for details about this year's project:
WHO: All grade levels are encouraged to participate
WHAT: A clothing drive to benefit Cradles to Crayons
WHERE: All schools will be given drop boxes for each grade level to participate
WHEN: The weeks of 3/25 and 4/1
WHY: To benefit Cradles to Crayons and assist the underserved of the Commonwealth with new and/or gently used clothing ages Newborn to Large Youth
HOW: Use your bully pulpit as an administrator to encourage students and families to participate in this worthwhile cause
As a way of saying thanks for students' efforts, we will be offering an incentive for the grade level with the highest participation amongst all the schools. One lucky grade level, in one of the schools, will be the recipient of an ice cream party (individually pre-wrapped frozen treats) as a way to say thank you for all of your hard work in supporting an awesome cause.
