I hope you are having a good week. We are looking forward to welcoming our families to the many parent engagement opportunities we have coming up. Information on our school photos and Literacy Week will be coming soon. As a friendly reminder, Fall Break is around the corner. School is closed September 23-27 for our Pre-K and Preschool special education programs.
Have a wonderful weekend and enjoy the cooler temperatures.

Library News
Students are settling into the routine of visiting the library with their classes each week. We've had lots of fun getting to know each other and we look forward to a very exciting year of reading and library learning. Pre-K is learning prerequisite skills to prepare to check out books. First we need to know how to safely handle library books, so that is what we talked about this week.

Spanish News
¡Hola! The Preschool and Pre-K kids are so excited to have been working on their Spanish this year. You will be amazed at how quickly they learn, songs, vocabulary and phrases at such a tender age. Soon at home and in the car, you will hear your child playing with the Spanish language by singing, counting, naming colors, and practicing new vocabulary in Spanish. It makes parents wish they had had the opportunity to begin learning a foreign language at age four!
The Spanish program is thematic: Voy a la escuela (My School), Mi familia (My Family), Celebremos (Celebrations), Mi cuerpo (My Body), ¡Tengo hambre! (Fruits and Vegetables), and ¿Qué dice el animal? (Farm Animals). During each unit the kids will learn words for basic actions and greetings, numbers, colors, and key vocabulary as they sing, dance, play games and listen to stories in Spanish.
If you see me on Wednesdays or Thursdays, be sure to say ¡Hola! and introduce yourselves. The kids call me Lita, which means “grandma” in Spanish. And please, just call me Lita, not Ms. Lita!
