Dear Erin Families,

Happy December! I hope that you were able to enjoy the sounds of the season at our elementary concert today. I wanted to update you on our well situation. On November 22, Water-Well Solutions televised our well with a 4D camera. At that time, it was determined that we have holes in our well casing. This was enough information to officially decide we need to drill a new well.

So what’s next? The school board officially approved D and D Well Pumps to drill our new well. This is a process that starts with DNR approval. We currently have a wellhead plan submitted and are awaiting approval. Because our current well is still safe for flushing and hand-washing, we will drill a well when it is least disruptive to learning. It is unlikely, but could be as early as December over break, if not then, we plan to wait until spring break or right when school gets out in June.

Regardless, we will continue to test the water monthly and the Culligan water stations will remain until a new well is fully functional. We have new signage up in the bathrooms. These “non-potable” signs are required by the DNR and serve as a visual reminder that we are currently unable to drink the water. Nothing new has caused these signs, this is part of the corrective action required by the DNR.

We appreciate your efforts to send filled water bottles to school with your children daily. Special thanks to our school board members as they continue to navigate decision making for our school community.

The Girls Basketball Recognition Night will be Monday, December 11th at 6pm in the Erin School Multipurpose Room.

All uniforms must be washed, dried and returned by that date.

The middle school band concert and 8th grade musical will be held on Wednesday, December 20th at the SCHAUER CENTER in Hartford. The performances will be held at 12:30pm and 6:30pm.

The Erin School Ski Club at Little Switzerland is back for the 2023-2024 ski and snowboard season!
