Town Hall
We had a fun kick off to our annual Town Hall meetings this week. Town Halls are an opportunity for grade levels to meet as a group to embrace our Trailblazer habits (Bravery, Ownership, Caring, Growth) and Trailblazer actions (Imagine, Investigate, Influence, Interconnectedness)
Over the next six weeks, our teachers will collaborate to showcase BRAVERY and then we will have a student-led Town Hall during the last week of October.
Volunteers Needed

There will be many ways for volunteers to get involved!

A Note from the Media Center
This year as part of the annual update for students, parents were given the ability to opt in to receive an email receipt when students check out books from the media center. There has been some confusion with these emails, as they originally had a header that read Lost or Damaged Book Receipt. We believe that this header has been changed to read Today's Book Checkouts. We are sorry for any confusion this may have caused and most likely your student does not have lost or damaged books at this point. The new email should include the books students check out and their due dates and will have the Subject Today's Book Checkouts. If you no longer wish to receive these emails, or wish to opt in, but didn't, please email Mrs. Davies at davies_jamie@dublinschools.net. Thank you!
Farewell Message from Mrs. Snelling
Dear Depp Community,
I am writing to let you know that I will be leaving Abraham Depp Elementary to work at a school closer to my home. My last day at Depp will be Friday, September 13th. This decision wasn’t an easy one, and it comes with mixed emotions as I reflect on the wonderful experiences I’ve had here. I want to extend my heartfelt thanks to each and every one of you. The support and friendship I have received from this community have meant so much to me. The teachers, staff, and students have made my time here truly special, and I will always be grateful for the knowledge and experiences I’ve gained. Thank you for being such an integral part of my journey and for making my time here so memorable.
With sincere gratitude and warmest regards,
Brandy Snelling
Administrative Secretary

The Trailblazer Trait of Bravery
At Depp, we foster the Trailblazer Traits of Bravery, Caring, Ownership and Growth. Our grade level town halls will begin in September and we will focus on exploring what it means to show these traits both within and outside of our school community. We are kicking off the year with Bravery. We believe that Brave Trailblazers take risks, try new things and are willing to be a leader.
As we move through our exploration of Bravery, parents can extend this learning at home by:
Modeling bravery. Children learn more from what you do than what you say. Take on new challenges and show your child what it means to be brave.
Acknowledging your child. Let your child know that you see them as brave and that it's okay to feel unsure. You can say something like, "You can do it; I know how brave you are".
Accepting fear. Help your child identify their fears and accept that it's natural to feel them.
Encouraging positive self-talk. Teach your child to talk positively to themselves.
Giving your child permission to fail. Let your child know that it's okay to try something and fail, and that they can learn from their mistakes.
Trying new things together like eating adventurous foods, exploring a new place, or playing a new game.

Student Drop Off
We have had a recent spike in parents skipping the drop off line and parking in the lot to release students in the morning. In the essence of school protocol and student safety, please review our guidelines:
Arrival:
- All cars must stay in the carline unless permission has been granted by Administration.
- No parking and walking students up.
- Parents/Guardians must stay in the car, do not exit to get your student and their belongings out. Staff will help if needed.
- Students exit curbside (passenger side of car).
- Students may not begin unloading cars until 9:00am
- Suggestion: Have students prepare to exit the car while waiting in line to ensure a smooth process.
Dismissal:
- Do not park and walk up to get your student unless permission has been granted by Administration.
- Parents/Guardians need to stay in the car. Staff will assist your student if needed.
- Please avoid distractions (i.e. texting and talking on the phone)
- Students need to enter the vehicle on the curbside.
Thank you for adhering to these requirements as we work to ensure a safe and efficient arrival and dismissal.
Window signs for car riders will be available for pick up at our meet the teacher event on August 14th. This is to be placed in the windshield or visor with your student's last name during dismissal.
