Free Meal Information
Governor Tim Walz recently signed the bill to provide universal free school meals for all students, regardless of household income. The new program will begin in the upcoming 2023-24 school year.
In the meantime, families that currently do not qualify for free or reduced meals must continue to pay for school meals for the remainder of the 2022-2023 school year.
Pandemic Electronic Benefit Transfer (P-EBT) Information
If your child is approved for Educational Benefits (free or reduced-priced school meals), they may be eligible for P-EBT benefits of $8.10 for each day they were absent due to a COVID-19-related illness.

Correction: North High art students recognized with 2023 Scholastic Award National Medal
In last week's e-News edition, North student Kasara Williams was incorrectly named as Kara Williams. Kasara is one of three North students to receive a National Medal for her artwork. Over 100,000 students submitted 260,000 works, and only 2,000 were selected for this honor.

Upcoming Events
Bilingual Seals Exam to be held on April 24 & 25
Sophomores, juniors, and seniors who are bilingual in a language other than English are encouraged to take the Bilingual Seals Exam. Students can earn college credit for knowing how to speak, listen, read, and write in another language.
The bilingual seal also looks great on a resume. Students should register to take the exam by Friday, April 14 by visiting the bilingual seals program webpage.
North Drama presents And Then There Were None April 13-15
Ten strangers are invited to Soldier Island, an isolated rock near the Devon coast. Cut off from the mainland, with their generous hosts Mr and Mrs U.N. Owen mysteriously absent, they are each accused of a terrible crime. Based on the novel by Agatha Christie.
Tartan Theatre presents Mean Girls April 21 - 30
Based on the 2004 hit movie, MEAN GIRLS takes us from the African savanna to Illinois’ North Shore High. How will new girl Cady Heron rise to the top of the popularity pecking order? By taking on The Plastics, a trio of lionized frenemies led by the charming but ruthless Regina George. But when Cady devises a plan to end Regina’s reign, she learns the hard way that you can’t cross a Queen Bee without getting stung.

Tartan band earns Superior rating at State Band Festival
Congratulations to Tartan Band Director Daniel Felton and the Tartan Concert Band who earned a Superior rating at the State Band Festival on March 29. The superior award is the top award that can be given for an outstanding performance. Way to go, Titans!

Spanish Immersion night
Spanish Immersion program students and their families gathered at Castle Elementary on March 28. Activities included crafts, Latin dancing and more!
Skyview Youth Conference
Skyview eighth graders presented well-researched projects during last week’s Youth Conference. Students selected topics of interest, researched, created slideshows and activities, and gave 20-minute presentations to an audience of family, staff, and friends. On Friday, March 31, Eagle Point held a cultural parade.

Last week, students in North's Woods III class toured the construction zone at the school. The tour of the construction area was very interesting and educational for students interested in the trades.

Discounted At-Home Internet
The Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP) provides eligible households a discount of up to $30 per month off their internet bills (or up to $75 per month for households living on Tribal lands), as well as a one-time discount of up to $100 off an eligible connected device like a laptop, desktop computer or tablet. In many cases, households can get high-speed internet without paying a dime by choosing a fully covered internet plan.
A household is eligible to participate in the ACP if a child in the household receives free or reduced-price school meals. Therefore, under the ACP rules, every household with a child attending a school participating in the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) of the National School Lunch Program and School Breakfast Program is eligible for ACP benefits.
Households can learn more and apply for the ACP at GetInternet.gov.
