A Message from our Principal
There was a lot of fun and excitement around the building today as costumes came on and parties started. Thank you to our teachers, support staff and parents for helping make the celebrations fun for our kids!
We had a great turn out at our Trunk or Treat last night! Thank you PAC and all of our families who showed up, decorated their cars and handed out candy. Despite the rainy, cold weather, it was a very fun event!
We hope our families that celebrate Halloween have a safe and joy-filled night tonight as you trick-or-treat!
PE Update 10/31/24
Hello from the HV PE Team!
Did you know that eating breakfast has some really amazing benefits for school-aged kids? A recent American Academy of Pediatrics study showed that breakfast eaters have better brain function, memory and attention. Eating breakfast improves kids performance on vocabulary tests, math problems and challenging mental and physical tasks. It also helps them deal better with frustration. Our cafeteria now serves any/all students free breakfast before school starting when the doors open at 7:30. Thank you for working with us to ensure all our students get their day off to a good start with breakfast, either at home or in the cafeteria before school.
Students spent October tackling our amazingly popular NInja Warrior course, while also tearing up the track during Mileage Club on Wednesdays. Can you believe our students have walked/run a total of almost 1,700 miles through just five weeks!? We spent the last couple ninja warrior sessions with the lights out and disco lights on. Kids were sweating through their shirts! It was a blast! This unit had a special emphasis on heart health, including how to check your heart rate, while giving students some simple strategies to keep their hearts happy and healthy. We also had an emphasis on the character trait of the month, Respect - respecting the course, the equipment and their peers as they made their way around the course.
We are looking forward to working on some individual fitness related skills in the coming weeks, like yoga and jump rope. We are also excited to kick off our 4th and 5th grade FourSquare tournament during lunch recess next week!
Please remember to have your kiddos wear proper, active footwear on their PE days. All students have PE on Wednesdays, as well as two other times per week! Thank you for helping us to keep our students safe!
- Mr.Gregory & Mr.Pulfrey
After School Change of Plans for Students
Please notify the office prior to 1:30 if you have a change of plans for your student(s) after school. Teachers often don’t have time to read emails during the day. Office staff will send notes to the classrooms to notify your student and the teacher of the change in plans.

Picture Retake Day - November 5, 2024
Hawks View Picture retake day is Tuesday, November 5th. If your student was absent on picture day, or you are new to the school, now is your chance to purchase a picture packet. Photographers will only be in the building that morning.
If you need retakes, be sure to bring your original picture packet back to the photographer on retake day.
For online ordering information, please follow the link below. Picture envelopes are available in the office, if needed.
OBOB Sign-Ups Due November 8 - Grades 3-5
It's not too late to sign up to participate in the Oregon Battle of the Books (OBOB) here at Hawks View! All 3rd-5th grade students who enjoy reading are encouraged to join. Students will work together in teams of 4-5 to read, quiz, and battle to be the Hawks View team that moves on to regionals. School level battles begin in February, so there is still a lot of time to read. We'll help create teams for those who need help with that.
Registration forms linked below are due by Friday, November 8th. Please reach out to Marika Conrad (mconrad@sherwood.k12.or.us) or Allison Bassich (abassich@sherwood.k12.or.us) if you have any questions.
Head Lice Reminders
Please be aware that head lice is a community concern and can be spread in many ways. With cold weather arriving, it is important to remember a common way lice is spread is through the sharing of hats and clothing. This can mean trying items on at department stores, borrowing items from others, cloth chairs/couches and even vehicle seats. Please take the time to check the heads of family members on a regular basis and treat if needed, as well as let the office know so that we can take any necessary precautions here at school.
Information on treatments can be found on the District website (scroll down) as well as the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, along with what is needed to eliminate them in the household.
