This week in Pre-K students explored everything that can grow on trees đł and learned who cares for them. They also explored various fruits đđ and nuts that grow on trees - ask your child and see how much your they remember! Some of the books read include: Weâre Going on a Pumpkin Hunt, Pumpkin Jack, and The Legend of Spookley the Square Pumpkin, which brought seasonal fun into the week. Students practiced forming letters in various modalities (e.g. sand, shaving cream, pencil, blocks, etc) and reviewed previously taught letters, mastering key images for each. You can reinforce this work at home with this brief two-minute video. In math, students counted objects to answer âHow many?â and matched quantities to groups.
Some classes also had a special visit from a local hairdresser! Students practiced wearing a cape, felt water sprayed on their heads and hands, and learned about brushing hair. They even got to experience the sounds and sensations of a buzzer and blow dryer! This fun, hands-on activity helped to build comfort with haircuts and explore new sensory experiences.
In Kindergarten, students have been hard at work building literacy, math, and science skills! In Language Arts, students practiced re-reading non-fiction texts, identifying âwowâ pages, and retelling stories for comprehension. Using big and small shapes, they illustrated stories and learned to add more detail to both pictures and words. For this week's read-aloud, Bunny Cakes by Rosemary Wells, students answered questions to deepen their understanding of story events. In addition, students explored consonant and short vowel sounds, practiced lowercase letters, and worked on rhyming skills. In math, students created rectangle collages and solved number stories, while social studies gave them a chance to share what makes them special. Science introduced the seasonal changes in tree leaves. Itâs been a fantastic week of learning across subjects, with lots of creativity and hands-on activities!

October Wrap Recap
In October, students in the Kindergarten Wrap Program enjoyed plenty of fun seasonal learning! They explored bats through a STEAM activity, decorated bat-themed measuring tapes and measured objects in their classrooms. During the Week of âExtra Respectâ, students celebrated their uniqueness by making colorful bees, each one as different as the students who created them. The fall season also inspired an outdoor scavenger hunt, and Halloween brought more excitement as they enjoyed dressing up in costumes. It was a month filled with creativity and discovery!

IMPORTANT REMINDERS
â° Timely Arrival
We appreciate your cooperation getting students to school on time each and every day! Late arrivals interrupt the flow of the class, and the late comer requires time to catch up with what the class has already accomplished.
đ„Parent Pick-Up & Changes to Dismissal Plans
When the dismissal plan of a student is a parent pick up, it is the expectation that a parent or guardian will pick up. Any change to the plan must be communicated in an email to the teacher and the main office secretaries on the day of the change. The designee for pick up will have to show the teacher a government issued photo ID. These practices help us to manage the safe dismissal of all students.
đ€ Flu Vaccine
A message from Nurse Oviedo: The flu vaccine is required yearly for students ages 4 and under. Please email documentation of your child's 2024-25 flu vaccine to Nurse Oviedo no later than December 31. If your child is in Kindergarten or will be 5 years of age by December 31, providing proof of your child's flu shot no longer required. To learn more about how to protect against the flu, visit the CDC website.
