New Jersey Student Learning Assessment (NJSLA)
On Monday, April 29 students in grades 6-11 will begin the NJSLA. The testing will span Monday and Tuesday mornings for high school students and also Wednesday morning for Junior High students. A modified period rotation will occur after lunch on these days. Make-up testing will be on an as needed basis Thursday and Friday. We completed an infrastructure practice test earlier this week to work out any kinks in our system and testing schedule. Please be sure to encourage your children to get adequate rest during the testing period.
Take Your Child to Work Day
The national holiday of Take Your Child to Work Day was celebrated in our school on Thursday. This great event provides a standing reminder to us as educators and ones who work with children every day, that it is important to get kids in real workplace settings at a young age.
Many staff chose to bring their own children to Woodbury that day. Our students were so gracious and helped guide the little ones around the building accompanying them to various activities. A great time was had by all!
A Peek Inside Ms. Gauthier's Classroom
Over the past few weeks, Milja Dann, Cora Schottenfeld, and Birdy Smith-Fields have been working collaboratively on a research presentation about climate change. They chose to make their extended science project a presentation with the intention to present it to all sixth grade classes around Earth Day. They researched climate change and global warming and created a poster, a presentation, and a game for students to test their new knowledge. These students spent three days in science class presenting to their peers. The professionalism and knowledge displayed by all three students was astounding!
Milja, Cora and Birdy - we are super proud of you!

Project Graduation
Project Graduation is a safe and free night of fun for our graduates. It has been a part of Woodbury High School for many years. For the last six years Project Graduation has been held at Rastelli’s Sports & More in Deptford, NJ.
The night of graduation, our graduates return to the high school approximately 9pm. The students and parent volunteer chaperones are bused to the venue. For the next 3-4 hours the graduates enjoy many activities such as a photo booth, basketball, swimming, Gaga Ball, volley ball, Tether ball and a live DJ. Food is provided for all graduates at the venue. In years past, we raised enough funds to give participating graduates a small gift of a Wawa gift card and a Project Graduation t-shirt. At approximately 1:30 am. the students and volunteers are bussed back to the high school.
All costs, including transportation to and from the venue, are covered through fundraising efforts and donations.
The 2018-2019 Project Graduation Committee consists of only 9 parent volunteers. Fundraising has been particularly challenging this year. Our efforts have not raised as much money as we have hoped for at this point. Having so few volunteers makes it difficult to raise the needed funds.
We need your help! It doesn’t matter if your child is in elementary school, 6th, 7th, 8th grade or in the high school. Please join us at our next meeting. If we don’t get more volunteers, we fear there will be no Project Graduation for our graduates this year.
