From Miss Angela
Dear VAP Families,
Happy New Year! We hope everyone had a joyful and relaxing winter break. We are so excited to welcome everyone back to campus tomorrow and to kick off an incredible second half of the school year!
This Friday is our January Spirit Day, and we’ll be celebrating Color Wars! Each grade will represent a specific color to showcase their spirit and teamwork. Be sure to check out the flyer below for your grade’s assigned color and come dressed to impress.
Next Wednesday, January 15th, we will host an Open House from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM. This is a wonderful opportunity for prospective and current families to take a tour of our campus, meet teachers, and ask questions. We encourage you to spread the word and invite friends or family members who may be interested in joining our school community.
Middle school students, get ready to dance the night away at our Winter Dance! The event will be held on Friday, January 17th, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM in the school gym. Tickets are $20 in advance (available in the office) or $25 at the door. Don’t miss this fun evening of music, friends, and memories.
For more information on upcoming events and activities, please check out the flyer below or visit our school website. We can’t wait to see everyone tomorrow and look forward to a fantastic start to the new year!
Update to Dress Code
We are excited to announce an update to our dress code and appearance policy for female students that will go into effect starting tomorrow. After thoughtful consideration and input from our middle school leadership class, we will now allow all girls (K-8) to wear uniform pants during the colder months between Thanksgiving and Spring Break.
The uniform pants must be khaki or navy in color, fit appropriately, and be purchased from Tri-Lakes, our approved uniform provider. We recommend you go to Tri-Lakes and get fitted the first time you purchase to make sure you get a good fit. This change was inspired by a few insightful presentations from our middle school leadership class, which addressed important challenges faced by our students. One presentation highlighted the discomfort many female students experience due to cold weather, while the other proposed a student announcement podcast to enhance communication and keep families informed about campus events.
We were impressed by the students’ thoughtful recommendations and are proud to support their initiative. Allowing uniform pants during the winter months is one step we are taking to prioritize student comfort and well-being.
Additionally, stay tuned for updates about the upcoming student announcement podcast. We look forward to sharing more details about this exciting project soon!
Thank you for your continued support as we work together to create a positive and responsive school environment.

Cold & Flu Season
As the colder months approach, it's essential for us to join forces in ensuring the well-being of our students. Cold and flu season is upon us, and while we can't completely shield our children from every germ, there are proactive measures we can take to minimize the risk of illnesses.
Here are some key precautions to keep in mind:
Hand Hygiene: Encourage your child to wash their hands frequently, especially before meals and after using the restroom. Proper handwashing is one of the most effective ways to prevent the spread of germs.
Healthy Habits: Teach your child to cover their mouth and nose with a tissue or their elbow when coughing or sneezing. This simple habit can significantly reduce the transmission of respiratory droplets.
Proper Nutrition: A well-balanced diet helps strengthen the immune system. Encourage your child to eat a variety of fruits, vegetables, and whole grains. Hydration is also key, so remind them to drink plenty of water.
Adequate Rest: Make sure your child gets enough sleep each night. A well-rested body is better equipped to fight off infections.
Open Communication: If your child is feeling unwell, it's important to communicate with the school and keep them at home until they're fully recovered. This not only helps their own recovery but also prevents the potential spread of illness to classmates.
By working together and implementing these precautions, we can create a healthier environment for our children. Thank you for your cooperation and commitment to the well-being of our school community.
