Hello DCP Redford Families!
Can you believe we are upon the last week of October? Please be sure to read our Parent Newsletter in its entirety. You will learn more about upcoming events, and school reminders.
Thank you to our Parent Volunteers/Chaperones, Ms. Moore for donating treats for our Staff Meeting last week, and last but not least, to the parents who chaperoned our 2nd and 3rd Grade field trip last week. Thank you for all that you do for our DCP Redford scholars!

THE IMPORTANCE OF ATTENDANCE and CHRONIC ABSENCES
Attendance is extremely important here at DCP-REDFORD. Everyday of school missed is a great deal of information to catch up on for a scholar. Please give your child the best opportunity to be successful and send them to school each day, on time.
Chronic absenteeism is a big problem for most schools. Did you know that if a student has a 90% attendance rate they are considered chronically absent? That means they have missed at least 18 days of school. We must begin to correct this trend for the students here at DCPR. Please help us in our goal of decreasing the number of students that are considered chronically absent.
LATCHKEY SERVICES
- Our school hours are from 8:05 a.m- 3:30 pm. Please do not leave scholars unattended. If you need your scholar at school earlier than 8:05 a.m. please sign them up for our Before and Aftercare program. Please Contact our Operations Manager, Ms. Stacey Johnson at (stacey.johnson@dcpschools.org).
Weather Alert
The Fall season is upon us. Please be sure to dress your scholar according to the weather. Let's stay safe, dry and warm.
Safe Driving Reminder
Please be mindful of the cars in the car pick up line during morning entry and dismissal. The parking lot is designed for cars to drive to the left of the lot and circle around. Driving the opposite direction is dangerous and puts too many people in harm's way. When everyone follows the same path, entry and dismissal can move efficiently. We want everyone to arrive and leave safely. Most importantly, we want to keep our children safe. Also, we ask that our visitors do not block the gym door or the main entrance door with your vehicles. This is a FIRE HAZARD. Please utilize the parking spaces to ensure everyone's safety. Thank you for understanding.
After School Programs
Currently, we are happy to have tutoring, girls' basketball practice, and dance team rehearsals. Boys' basketball has not started yet. All participants must have a signed permission slip to stay after. All other scholars should be dismissed at 3:30 and are expected to go home. If you are unsure if your child should be staying after school or if you have not signed a permission slip, please call the front office.

Tutoring
Our tutoring program begins this week. It will run on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays from 4-5:30. Permission slips were sent home for selected scholars who needed specific academic help. They will be provided snacks while staying with us. We ask that siblings or relatives that are not in the tutoring program be picked up and not roam the building. If they have to stay for transportation convenience, they will need to be signed up for Latch Key. We are not going to haphazardly watch children that are not in a program. It is unsafe for them to be in the building and our staff will not be responsible for watching them when they are preparing for the next day or trying to go home. If there is a concern, please contact Principal Johnson.
Report Cards
We apologize for the delay with the report cards. PowerSchool experienced some form of an update and it did not go well for us. We are reviewing all of the report cards to be sure they are accurate. Should you notice any issues with your child's report card, please let us know. Report Cards will be sent home with your scholar. Please be advised that you may view your students grades online using PowerSchool. If you do not have access to Powerschool, please contact your scholars Instructor.
