Trojan Territory
Week of August 19
Trojan Families and Students,
Welcome back to Thornton High School for the 24/25 school year. We kicked off the school year with over 1400 students and it is still growing here at THS. If you had the opportunity to attend our Back to School BBQ, thank you! It was a great experience and fun way to kick-off the year. If you missed it, no worries; next year we will plan to do it again. I am extremely excited to start my third year as principal and offer opportunities for you to come support our teams here at Thornton. Some of these opportunities will be our Freshmen Parent Meetings and our School Accountability Committee. Look for communication in the coming weeks on both of these opportunities.
Lastly, a couple of friendly reminders:
- School begins at 7:40 sharp. Please arrive early to ensure your student is on time.
- Students are expected to be in class on time. Excessive tardies will result in the loss of privileges for attending or participating in athletic and social events.
- Students should have their Chromebook charged and ready to go each day.
- Cell phones are not to be used during class time; this is a district policy.
- Please do not stop on Washington Street to drop your student off. This is a traffic infraction and you will be ticked by Thornton Police.
- Get your students involved in athletics and activities. We will be holding an in building activities fair in late August for students.
Thank you again for you support of Thornton High School!

Trojan Families and Students,
Beginning the week of August 19th, we will have two therapy dogs on campus to support students and staff. Both therapy dogs have been vetted by the district and cleared. On the first and third Tuesday of the month, Chewy will be joining us; on the second and fourth Wednesday, Odin will join our team. If you have any concerns regarding the support of a therapy dog, please reach out to me directly.

Chromebooks
If you went to an Adams 12 school last year, you should have your district-issued chromebook and charger. Those were NOT collected at the end of the school year. If you are a new student, stop by the library and we will check out a device and charger for you.
All students should now have a Chromebook.
If your Chromebook is not working or damaged please bring it (and the charger) to school and visit the library. Ms. Smith and Ms. Ewell in the library will help you out. If your Chromebook is lost or stolen, stop by the library and we'll talk about next steps and check out another device for you.
All students are charged a Chromebook Insurance fee of $20, $10 for reduced lunches and $0 for free lunches. Damaged Chromebooks have a $5.00 fine for the first damage, $50.00 fine for the second damage and for each additional damage the charge is $75.00. To replace a lost Chromebook the cost is $150. If your Chromebook is stolen, you MUST fill out a police report and submit that to the District to not be charged. Chromebook chargers are $35 to replace through the District. If you need a new charger and want to pay less, you can use THIS LINK. You do not have to use this link or buy through Amazon. The charger must be a 45-watt USB-C Type charger.
