Over the past two weeks Turner hosted the Pearland ISD Livestock Show and Expo. The Expo was a wonderful event that showcased talented Turner students over the course of 4 nights. We had students raise and show animals, earn scholarships, create and compete in Culinary and Art Competitions. We also had students prepare and serve a delicious spread of food for the Auction Buyers' dinner. The Expo was a huge success. Congratulations to all who participated!

Students, election day will be on November 5th, and we would like to encourage all Turner students who will be eligible to vote in the upcoming election. But, before you cast your ballot you must become a registered voter, and we are here to help you through that process.

Students can pick up voter registration applications in the library, and Ms. Herrington, THS Librarian, can assist with filling out the applications if needed. Once the application has been completed and submitted, voters can check their registration status at votetexas.gov. It takes about 30 days to receive the voter card, but their status will be updated online before the card is received, usually in about two weeks. The last day to register to vote is October 7th. Early voting begins October 21st and ends November 1st. Election Day is November 5th.

Eligibility for Registration

• You are eligible to register to vote if:
• You are a United States citizen;
• You are a resident of the county where you submit the application;
• You are at least 17 years and 10 months old on the date your voter registration application is submitted, and you are 18 years of age on Election Day.
• You are not a convicted felon (you may be eligible to vote if you have completed your sentence, probation, and parole); and
• You have not been declared by a court exercising probate jurisdiction to be either totally mentally incapacitated or partially mentally incapacitated without the right to vote.

Students, if you meet the criteria above, we encourage you to take part in our democratic process.

The Senior Class of 2025 and the Spanish Honors Society are celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month by hosting a “Latin Nights” Dance on September 27th. The dance will be held in the Turner Cafeteria from 7pm-10pm. Come listen and dance to your favorite Latin Music, and don’t forget to bring a little extra cash for the concession stand. Tickets will be sold for $15 in advance and for $20 at the door. You may purchase your tickets now from the QR-Code on the attached flyer.

All Turner 10th grade students will be taking the PSAT on October 22nd, and all Turner 11th grade students will be taking the PSAT on October 23rd. The PSAT is an important exam because it prepares students for the SAT. In the students’ junior year, their PSAT test score can qualify them for the National Merit Scholarship program and scholarship opportunities. Please note that students taking the PSAT test will have to bring their own calculators for the exam. A list of acceptable calculators can be found here.

Parents we are administering the PSAT free of charge to all our 10th and 11th grade students. If, however, you would prefer that your student not take the exam you may click on one of the following hyperlinks to opt out of the exam.

Turner College and Career High School will celebrate Homecoming during the last week of October. The Homecoming Carnival, Freight Fest, is scheduled for Wednesday October 30th, and the Homecoming Dance is scheduled for Saturday, November 2nd. Stay tuned for further information.
