Celebration of Learning - March 27
We would like to invite you to our Celebration of Learning evening on March 27. This event will be an opportunity for your child to highlight some of the things they have been learning about in their classes. The Celebration of Learning evening will take place between 4:30-6:30 pm.
Our Scholastic Book Fair will happen during our Celebration of Learning from 4:00-6:00pm. More details below.
NES Scholastic Book Fair
The Book Fair is coming to NES! Choosing books empowers kids and inspires them on their journey to becoming lifelong readers. This year, the Book Fair will run from March 24-28 in the NES Gym. Each class will have a time during the day to browse and purchase books throughout the week. Additionally, there will be Family Night for those who would like to come with their child to purchase books. This will take place on March 27 from 4-6pm during the Celebration of Learning.
See you there!
NES Battery Blitz
N.E.S is participating in a battery blitz! Our Mission is to recycle as many used batteries as we can!

Our Battery Blitz will kick off right away and end on March 21, 2025.
Single-use and rechargeable batteries weighing less than 5kg can be brought in to be recycled, for example:
- A, AA, AAA, C, D, 9Vz, button (coin) cell
- Batteries found in
- Power tools
- Video game consoles
- Digital and video cameras
- Watches (with the exception of wet-cell batteries)
The top 3 schools that collect the most batteries in Manitoba (by weight) will win cash prizes ($3000 for first, $2000 for second, and $1000 for third place winners).

2025-26 Kindergarten Registration
Kindergarten registration for the 2025-26 school year is now OPEN. To be eligible, children must be five years of age on or before December 31, 2025. More information is available on the Hanover website.
Registration is online at www.hsd.ca. Anyone who does not have access to the Internet is invited to visit the school office.
Parents and guardians are encouraged to register their children as early as possible. This assists us in planning and preparation. Registering before March 14, 2025 will ensure there is sufficient time for school appointments and orientation activities. We anticipate being able to have parents and future students in person for these events. Please stay tuned for further information.

PARENT PORTAL/STUDENT INFORMATION
The HSD Parent Portal is a communication tool designed to enhance and increase parent/guardian involvement in the education of their children by providing secure online access to their child's student information. With a single username and password, you can access data for each of your children attending an HSD school. The Access IDs along with setup instructions have been sent via email to all eligible parents/guardians of new students. If you are new to NES and did not receive the specified email, please contact the school office at 204-388-4861.
Please take a few minutes to review the student information and contact information for your child. It is important that the school has current address and contact information for your child in case it is necessary to reach someone during the school day. Changes can be made through the parent portal.
Important Reminders
- If your child will be absent from school you can excuse them through the Parent Portal instead of calling the school office. Parent Portal can be accessed at any time for your convenience.
- If a student arrives late to school, please have them come in through the front doors to check-in at the office before they go to their classroom
- All non bus students will be dismissed at 3:35 each day. Please make sure to have a "meeting spot" arranged for your child to meet you if they are being picked up
- If there are End of day changes the parent/guardian needs to notify the office and classroom teacher by 3:00 p.m. the same day. If a friend or relative will be regularly picking up your student, please have them added to the parent/guardian approved pick up list at the office
