Early Release Days
Just a reminder that this Friday, October 18th and Monday, October 21st are early release days for students. The Early Release Schedule is linked below.
5th Grade Rotations
Our 5th graders will start their 2nd rotation of their specials classes this week! Students will follow the rotation schedule: Art to PE to STEM to Instrumental Exploratory to Spanish to Art.
Second Step
What are we learning this week?
5th Grade - Unit 2: Emotion Management
Lesson 8: Planning for Change -In this week’s lesson, your child will practice breaking down situations that feel big and unmanageable into smaller, more manageable pieces. They will also practice identifying a small change someone could make to manage their strong emotions the next time a situation occurs.
Try this at home: Tell your child about a recurring situation in your life that typically causes you to feel a strong emotion, like stress or anger. Ask your child what you can change to make the situation better, and why they would suggest that change.
6th Grade - Unit 2: Developing a Positive Sense of Self
Lesson 8: What are Guiding Principles? - This week’s lesson will introduce your child to guiding principles—the things that are most important to people that help them make decisions. Your child will learn about 10 common guiding principles and discuss how guiding principles can help them understand behavior, including their own.
Try this at home: Tell your child about something important to you that you consider one of your guiding principles. Ask them to name some guiding principles that they found interesting or feel strongly about.
7th Grade - Unit 2: Developing a Positive Sense of Self
Lesson 8: What is Self-Concept? - In this week’s lesson, your child will learn about self-concept—how they see and think about themselves. They’ll learn that a person’s self-concept can affect their actions and decisions, which is why it’s important to develop a positive self-concept.
Try this at home: Ask your child to explain what a self-concept is. Ask them why they think it’s important to have a positive self-concept.
8th Grade - Unit 2: Developing a Positive Sense of Self
Lesson 8: Agency - In this week’s lesson, your child will learn about agency—the power to make and act on their own decisions. They’ll identify some areas in their lives in which they have agency and learn that focusing on those areas can help them feel empowered.
Try this at home: Tell your child about an area in your life in which you have agency. Ask them to describe where they have agency in life.

Did you know you can find school contact information quickly and easily on the Chippewa Hills website and the CHSD Warriors app?
Simply visit our website at www.chsd.us and click on the blue Contact Us buttons located on the district homepage as well as the homepages for every building. From there you’ll see all the contact information for your school’s office, as well as a listing of all building and department phone numbers.
If you’re using the CHSD Warriors app, just click on the Contact Us button in the menu to view a listing of all building and department phone numbers. Simply click on a phone number to make a call!
If you’re not using the CHSD Warriors app, how come? It’s the best way to stay connected with everything happening at Chippewa Hills! You can download the CHSD Warriors app for free from the Google Play or Apple App store.
District Text Alerts
Text alerts are coming!
During the month of October, we will be rolling out text alerts for emergency communications from Chippewa Hills. Text alerts will be used for urgent situations like school closures and delays, power outages, emergency cancellations, and building lockdowns. We will still continue to use all of our other communication methods for emergencies (like the CHSD app, social media, email, radio/TV announcements, etc), and text alerts are simply another tool we’re adding to our arsenal for distributing needed information quickly.
Day-to-day updates, reminders, and announcements will continue to be shared via the CHSD app, Rooms, social media, and email.
**PARENTS: In order to receive text alerts, it is essential for you to make sure the school has your correct cell phone number on file! You can verify that information by checking your account information in Skyward Family Access or by calling your child’s school office. You can also fill out THIS FORM and we will update your cell phone information.
TEST MESSAGES: We have scheduled 3 tests for text alerts on the following days/times:
• Wednesday, October 16 at 12:00 PM
• Wednesday, October 23 at 12:00 PM
• Wednesday, October 30 at 12:00 PM
If you do NOT receive the first test message on October 16, please update your cell phone information with the school ASAP. Once your cell phone number is updated, you should receive the second and third test messages.
We’re scheduling these tests to ensure as many Warrior families as possible are receiving the text alerts and to give parents time to update their contact information if needed. We’re trying to wrap all of this up during October as we prepare for the school closures and delays that will come with the winter weather season ahead.
Update your cell phone information today!
Vaccine Clinic
Save the date! Our Chippewa Hills Wellness Center is hosting a Flu & COVID Vaccine Clinic on Friday, October, 18 from 12-4 PM in the Middle School Library.
This clinic is available for all students and adults who live within the Chippewa Hills community. Children under 18 must be accompanied by a parent.
Walk-ins are welcome, but appointments are encouraged to avoid long wait times and to ensure we have enough vaccines on hand. To make an appointment, call the Chippewa Hills Wellness Center at 989-967-2290.
The cost of the flu shot and COVID vaccine is covered by most insurance companies. For those without insurance, the cost is $40 for a regular dose, or $46 for high-dose.
We look forward to seeing you there!
Family Halloween Night
Save the date! The Chippewa Hills High School Family Halloween Night will be on Sunday, October 27 from 4-6 PM!
