Good morning Horizons' Community! Graduation will be Wednesday, May 22 at 6:30 at Shawnee Mission South HS. Students graduating should be meet in the SM South cafeteria at 5:30. All graduates should be there no later than 5:45. The ceremony will be held outside at the SM South District Stadium weather permitting. If there is inclement weather, the ceremony will be moved inside to the SM South gym. A decision will be made by 4:00 pm the day of the graduation. Graduates, please be sure to dress appropriately! We will see you all there on Wednesday!

Teacher Appreciation Week has come to a close and we wish to thank all those that helped make it a success!

• Thank you Mission HyVee for your generous gift that allowed us to send our teaching staff out to lunch for a delicious meal!
• Thank you Blue Cross/Blue Shield Kansas City for a Wellness Grant that provided a tasty and nutritious breakfast and lunch for the staff!
• Thank you to our Horizons support staff who covered in classrooms so teachers could enjoy an extended lunch!
• And THANK YOU to parents and guardians who sent encouraging notes and gifts!

Even though Teacher Appreciation Week is officially over, we invite and encourage you to continue to reach out to your student's teachers anytime to let them know you appreciate their hard work!

Please read the following schedule carefully.

Graduating Seniors:

• Homeroom 8:40-8:56
• 1st Hour: 9:00 - 10:18 (FINAL)
• 2nd Hour: 10:22 - 11:40 (FINAL)
• Lunch: 11:40 - 12:30
• During this extended lunch period, we will be serving hamburgers and hotdogs off the grill and having our yearbook signing party! (Don't worry if you didn't buy one. We still want you there!)
• 12:30: ALL GRADUATING SENIORS WILL CHECK OUT WITH MR. LYDAY.
• 12:45: Graduating Seniors who ARE NOT walking with Horizons may leave the building if they have checked in their MacBook. ALL SENIORS WHO ARE WALKING WITH HORIZONS will complete the graduation rehearsal.

Any student staying on campus to ride the buses (at 3:00) must report to the library. No graduating seniors will be allowed in halls or classrooms after graduation practice.

**All 10th, 11th, and non graduating seniors will return to classrooms at 12:30 (Unless otherwise directed by the principal).**

Starting June 3, 2024, the Shawnee Mission School District (SMSD) will kick off its annual Summer Lunch Bunch program. This initiative provides free, nutritious meals to all children ages 1-18, regardless of whether they are students in the district.

Please contact the Horizons office to pay your school fees now. All current year fees are due by the end of May. Any fees that are not paid may be sent to collections.

• New Fees May Have Been Added to Your Account. We have started a new term and new class fees may have been added to your student's account. Please pay these as soon as possible.
• The online fee payment portal is now available for school fees. Go to www.smsd.org, hover over the "Families " tab, and click the link entitled "Pay Fees Online".
• Fees are needed for teachers to buy supplies for classes and to cover other expenses for the 2023-24 school year.
• If you are interested in applying for free or reduced lunch, please use this link.
• The following fees are required: instructional resource Fee, ID card and course fees.
• If you need to pay by check, please mail your check with your student’s ID number in the memo to Horizons High School, Attn: Bookkeeper, 5900 Lamar Ave., Mission, KS 66202.
• If you qualify for free or reduced lunch, email a copy of your food service benefits letter to wenonahcarmody@smsd.org. Free lunch students receive a $105 waiver & reduced receive $52.50.

The Shawnee Mission Area Council PTA Clothing Exchange is now open! See the attached flyers for dates and times through December.

The Shawnee Mission Area Council PTA Clothing Exchange offers gently used clothing and shoes from infant to adult sizes. The Exchange is a free service open to those who live within the SMSD boundaries. All are welcome. If school offices are closed, the Clothing Exchange is closed. www.smsd.org
