DEAR AELC FAMILIES,

Welcome back! I hope you had a wonderful break and got to spend time with friends and family! We definitely enjoyed a quiet holiday :) Excited to being back with our students and a great start to 2025!

PICTURE RETAKE DAY...

Picture Retake Day will be Wednesday January 15th for any students who missed Picture Day or would like their photo retaken. Any questions call the AELC main office.

HELP US SPREAD THE WORD...

MAP TESTING...

Starting mid-month, kindergarten students will be taking their MAP Winter benchmarks in reading and math. We use our winter benchmark to measure growth from the fall and revise any instructional strategies/paths we may need to for your child based on this data. As a family you can help your child by discussing giving best effort, taking your time, get a goodnight's rest, and eat a healthy breakfast the morning of the assessment. Stay tuned for more info from classroom teachers. You will receive the results after testing is complete.

DIBELS ASSESSMENT...

DIBELS (Dynamic Indicators of Basic Early Literacy Skills) is a short, timed test that measures your child’s reading skills. The test helps us track their progress in areas such as phonics, fluency, and comprehension. Your child's teacher will be administering the mid-year DIBELS assessments throughout this month. Your child’s results will help us continue to support their growth in reading and will be sent home once all testing has been completed.

NO SCHOOL...

On Friday, January 17th, there will be no school for students. We have a teacher in-service day. On Monday, January 20th, there will also be no school for students & staff as we honor Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day.

CHANGING WEATHER...

As the weather changes, please make sure to send your child with coats, hats, gloves, etc... We will go out for recess/outdoor time as the weather allows.
Don't forget to label EVERYTHING so items can be returned to the correct student if misplaced.
Many students have clothes for warm weather as their extra clothes. Please make sure to send in clothes for the colder weather in case your child needs to change.

OFFICE REMINDERS...

Please be prepared to show your IDs when you're picking up your child for an early dismissal. Our staff will be asking for IDs any time that your child leaves our building with an adult. Thank you for your cooperation!

EAGLE PRIDE DAYS...

Our school celebrates Eagle Pride Day once a month where we wear purple & yellow and focus on one SOARing attribute. Teachers and staff members choose one student per month who receives recognition for being a "Pride Day Winner"!

At AELC, Mrs. Fox visits each classroom to announce the winner and awards the student with a certificate and a lanyard!
