Early Dismissal November 11, Starting at 11:10am
Please read the below message in its entirety.
- State College School District will provide bussing for the early dismissal on Monday, 11 November. No other districts will be providing bussing. Parents of students who are transported by buses other than SCASD, please make arrangements for the early dismissal and notify the office of your plans.
- Please take a moment to review your Early Dismissal Plan in 'School Admin'. If you would like to make a change, please email Mary Cawley, cawleym@olvcs.org, as soon as possible. The instructions that are listed in School Admin is what Mary will follow for early dismissals.
Early Dismissal Procedure For Parent Pick-up November 11th:
- For parent pick-up during an early dismissal to run smoothly and without heavy traffic congestion, we must operate it very similarly to our daily parent pick-up.
- We have assigned two pickup groups/times to avoid congestion.
- 11:10 - A-L
- 11:25 M-Z
Please arrive at the rear parking lot off of Saxton Drive at the assigned time.
Families are assigned alphabetically by the first letter of their child's last name.
It is imperative that you arrive at your assigned time.
If you arrive prior to your assigned time, your child will not yet be in the Parent Pick-up area
Middle school students will be dismissed during both waves based on their assigned time.
For those families who utilize parent pick-up daily, you may find that your assigned group is different from that of a regular school day, so please pay extra attention to the time slot.
If you have students in the preschool and K-8 follow the below instructions and ignore the previous ones.
Regardless of the first letter of your last name, if you have children in both K-8 and the preschool, please go to the preschool pick-up line first at 10:45 for an 11:00 dismissal. I
- It is the same entrance as you use for preschool drop off in the morning.
- Once you pick up your preschooler you will exit the lot and enter the K-8 pick-up line off of Saxton Dr.
- Again, regardless of the first letter of your last name, if you fall into this group please use the first wave (11:10) for K-8 Pick-up after you pick-up your preschooler.

SJCA 2024 Fall Family Retreat - 11/15-11/16
Jordan Langdon of Families of Character, is coming Saint Joseph's Catholic Academy! Jordan is a licensed clinical social worker with over 20 years of experience coaching parents and families, a Catholic wife and mom of three from Denver, CO, and the CEO of Families of Character, the "#1 resource for in-home child and family development."
Our Families of Character retreat will be focused on providing valuable tools for you and your spouse to utilize as partners and parents in a cohesive, Catholic family unit. We will intentionally take the time to grow together, prayerfully, to emerge from the weekend as more present, grace-giving, and confident captains of our "family team." We are so excited to share it with you!
As last year, SJCA will host a fall family weekend retreat, which is scheduled for November 15-16, 2024. Complimentary childcare will be provided, as last year, and all meals will be provided as well. The cost is $65 per couple. Sarah Miller, our new Development Assistant here at SJCA, will be organizing the event with me, so if you feel inclined to help volunteer as well as participate with your spouse, please reach out! Sarah's Saint Joe's contact is development@sjcacademy.org. The full agenda for the weekend is attached.
You will see posters for the event at church and in the bulletin soon, but to give you priority, and for more information here's the registration link:
