A Note from the Principal
Dear Families,
Thank you to those who joined us for 5th Grade Camp! We could not make the trip without you and appreciate all the support and snacks that were sent in. We look forward to sharing the experience with the rest of the 5th Grade at the end of April, and with our 4th graders next year.
This week brings the Book Fair, Literacy Night, and 5 more days of March is Reading Month fun (see the calendar below).
With Ramadan underway, should families need any specific accommodations for students related to fasting, resting, prayer, or other supports, please do not hesitate to reach out to myself or your child's teacher. We are dedicated to collaborating to ensure student needs are met so they can continue to learn and grow during this sacred month, and during any other important religious observance our families celebrate.
In partnership,
Megan DeGrand

Heritage Book Fair; 3/10-3/13:
Spring Book Fair will be Mar 10-14. We are trying Literati instead of Scholastic. We were motivated to find more books specifically curated to get 4th and 5th graders excited about reading.
You may purchase a gift card from Literati that is very similar to an eWallet. We will have an option to look up students' gift cards by name and teacher. Cash is always welcome as well.
If students still have balances on their old Scholastic eWallets, unfortunately, they won't be able to use them at this book fair.
You can find links to volunteer at the book fair, check out the Literati book selection, buy a gift card, or use your old eWallet here: https://linktr.ee/heritagebookfair
4th Grade Music Assembly @ SHS
The annual 4th-grade music field trip to Saline High School will be on Thursday, March 20 at 9 am. The High School Choir, Band and Orchestra will play for our 4th graders as a part of the music decision process the kids will make for their 5th grade music selection. Fourth graders will listen to these ensembles demonstrate each voice type and instrument offered in our school music program. They will see what our high school musicians have achieved since they started their music journey at Heritage. This field trip is during the school day and is only for students and their teachers. We will take school buses from Heritage to Saline High School's Auditorium in the morning and we will return to Heritage before lunch. Please ask your child about this experience and how this might influence what they want to do as a 5th-grade musician.
We will continue learning about the ensemble choices and instrument choices after spring break. Music selection forms will be released in May along with more information.

Hornets Helping Hornets
Every once in a while, a Saline Area Schools family needs just a little bit of extra help. When that happens, we want to make it easy for other families to fulfill that need without knowing who the need is for. These needs will include such things as coats, boots, snacks, gas cards, lunch money, etc...
To learn more and view the needs, simply sign up to be on the weekly email distribution list here. This is a very easy way to help out fellow SAS community members!
Thank you for caring about our Saline Area Schools families! Questions? You can reach us at salinehornetshelpinghornets@gmail.com.
