Sundays From The Mesa # 5
September 9th - 13th
Dear Alta Mesa Families,
It was a short week so I am going to make this a short note home.
Our Parent Booster Club will meet on Wednesday, September 11th from 6-7 in the library. They will be discussing our fall carnival and other activities to bring to Alta Mesa. If you are available, it is a great way to get involved in our school community.
Our Community Connect Coordinator, Cathy, is interested in bringing a walking school bus to Alta Mesa. It is a great opportunity for our school. Read more about this and take the survey below.
As a school, we are still focusing on Habit #1 which is being proactive. Our classrooms are teaching what it means to be responsible for the choices we make and appropriate reactions to people and various situations. Ask your child if he or she knows what it means to be proactive.
A huge thank you to those of you who have sold Riffle Raffle tickets. These funds go directly back to your child's classroom. Keep selling those tickets. The fundraiser goes until October 4th.
See everyone tomorrow!
Thank You,
Courtney Haedrich

Let's Walk to School Alta Mesa!
Alta Mesa is creating a Walking School Bus for our students. Every morning, a supervised group will pick up students from the neighborhood & walk to school.
Studies show that students who are healthy, awake and alert perform better at school. By walking in the morning, your student will be more attentive and ready to learn when they arrive at school. Physical activity also improves attention, memory skills, and brain health.
1) Stay healthy
Walking to school is a great form of exercise for your child.
2) It's fun and builds friendships
Walking groups can help form bonds that allow students to feel connected to other students.
3) It helps children learn
After a morning walk, they will arrive at school feeling refreshed, happy and ready to start their day.
4) Improves confidence
Walking to school teaches them road safety, basic navigation skills, and helps them feel more confident.
If you are interested in participating in the AM Walking School Bus please complete the SURVEY. To learn more about this opportunity, contact me at 530.780.6820 or email cgiacomelli@shastacoe.org

ATTENDANCE AWARENESS
One way to jumpstart a PROACTIVE year is establishing good rhythms for excellent attendance in 2024/2025. September is Attendance Awareness Month, and we're highlighting the importance of consistent attendance for ALL of our students - TK and up! Regular attendance helps build a strong foundation for learning, social development, and future success. Did you know: if your child is going to be absent, you can reach out to the school office to arrange Independent Study to earn credit for attendance while you are gone. By building a family focus on great attendance, you are telling your students that they can proactively create lifelong habits of responsibility and commitment.
