If you have any other questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out to the main office and our admin assistants will be able to direct you to the correct admin.
Regards,
Renee Coleman, Principal
Chrissy Mitlyng, Associate Principal
Heidi Walter, Associate Principal
Every student at SPEHS has our support and we strive for them to reach their full potential. We also want each scholar to have a sense of community at SPEHS and to be inspired to reach their full potential.
SPEHS Black History Month
WHAT IS BLACK HISTORY MONTH AND WHY DO WE CELEBRATE IT?
Black History Month was created to focus attention on the contributions of African Americans in the United States and to acknowledge key figures from their past and present.
We celebrate Black History Month to focus attention on the contributions of African Americans in the United States. It honors all Black people from all periods of U.S. history, from the enslaved people first brought over from Africa in the early 17th century to African Americans living in the United States, today.
Why are we celebrating 50 Years of Hip-Hop this month?
August 11, 2023 marked the 50th anniversary of Hip-Hop. To honor the legacy and influence of this now global culture, SPEHS BSU has planned activities and events this month. The celebration of 50 years of hip-hop during Black History Month acknowledges its origin in the Bronx in the 1970s, highlighting its cultural impact globally, influencing music, fashion, language, and social movements!!
50 Years of Hip Hop Activity - February 26th - 29th 2024
BSU School-wide Assembly on 2/29 during 4th block (3:00 pm). Don't forget to wear your 50th Years of Hip-Hop T-shirt on this day!

Additional Information
Registration
Students will complete some pre-assessment steps here at school to create their myACT account and get ready for testing. Their myACT account is where they can access their results (in addition to what gets sent home in the mail 3-8 weeks after testing) and elect to send to secondary institutions.
Sun Prairie East Students will complete the online pre-registration on March 1st during SP 30.
Note: Students need their Chromebooks charged and ready for both pre-registration and testing day as it is an online assessment.
Testing Day
Scholars who are testing are required to bring a picture ID and their fully charged Chromebook and charger on the testing day. Students may also bring ACT-approved calculators. Any non-approved calculator will not be permitted. While small purses will be permitted, large bags, cell phones, and all other electronics (including smart watches) are not permitted in the testing environment. Scholars who access medication during the school day will be accommodated. Food or snacks will not be allowed in testing rooms unless it is necessary for medical reasons. Water bottles are only permitted outside of the testing area.
For Juniors who are taking the ACT, bus routes are running as normal. Students arriving later than the start time will not be permitted to their assigned testing room and will be asked to attend the retake assessment on March 19th.
Further information will be shared about the testing schedule for the day in later communication. Please note that for students who will be testing with accommodations, more information will be communicated about their testing experience. Reach out to your scholar's 504 Coordinator (Amy Kohl-East) or Coordinator of Students Services (Mallory Long-East) if you have further questions.
Test Preparation
All scholars have access to FREE ACT prep through Methodize Test Prep. To access Method Test Prep, scholars can log into their Xello Account. Once in their account, the scholar needs to scroll to the bottom right and click on Methodize Test Prep. Other information and resources for students can be found here.
We look forward to this opportunity for our scholars to demonstrate their college and career readiness and take the next steps toward their post-secondary goals. More information about testing room assignments will be coming as the date gets closer. If you have questions in the meantime, please refer to your school assessment coordinator’s information below.
Sincerely,
