2024 - 2025
February 27, 2025
Greetings, Families!
What a delightful (yet short!) week at Kegonsa! Our feature photo highlights our amazing 4th and 5th grade Student Council—we have the highest participation yet, and we’re so excited for our future leaders! 🎉
Our February Students of the Month enjoyed a special lunch with Ms. Conrad, and our 1st graders had a fantastic trip to the Overture Center to see Frog and Toad! Today, students had a blast at Round 2 of Half Day Gilly Camp! 🐟
Looking ahead to next week:
🍽️ Special Edition Lunch with the Principal
🎨 3rd Grade Day of Art with Mr. Myers
👕 Thursday: Dress Backwards Day! (Or Backwards Dress Day—however you want to say it!)
🎉 Friday: Parents Night Out at Stoughton’s Best to benefit Kegonsa WFK!
Enjoy the long weekend (no school tomorrow!)—it’s supposed to be 51° and breezy, so get outside if you can! 💙 Erin

Movement Matters: PE Highlights & Tips
Encourage your child to share what they’ve been learning and practicing in PE class! We’ve been busy staying active, trying new activities, and building important physical skills.
What We’ve Been Up To
🏅 Grades 3-5: Gymnastics – Students have been working on balance, coordination, and flexibility through various gymnastics skills.
🤸 Grades K-2: Gymnastics – Our younger students have also been exploring gymnastics, focusing on body control, basic movements, and having fun!
What’s Coming Next
🥒 Grades 3-5: Pickleball – A fun paddle sport that combines elements of tennis, badminton, and ping pong. Students will learn the basics of serving, rallying, and working as a team.
🏓 Grades K-2: Pickleball – Even our youngest learners will get an introduction to this exciting game, practicing hand-eye coordination and movement skills.
Ways to Stay Active at Home
❄️ Play Outside – When the snow arrives, encourage your child to stay active by sledding, building snow forts, or simply playing in the fresh air.
🏃 Build Endurance – Take family walks or jogs to help improve running and walking stamina.
🤝 Talk About Sportsmanship – A great athlete isn’t just skilled—they also know how to win and lose with respect. Have a conversation with your child about what good sportsmanship looks like in and out of the classroom.
Thank you for supporting your child’s physical education journey! Stay active and have fun! 💙🎽
Shining Gilly Award Winners!
What is the Shining Gilly Award?
The Shining Gilly Award recognizes students who go above and beyond to show exceptional care for others or our school. These students exemplify the qualities we strive to nurture in all of our little citizens—kindness, responsibility, and a positive impact on their community. Whether it's an individual or a group of students, those who receive this award truly reflect the values we hold dear at our school.
Congratulations to Ragnar (3rd) and Hayes (2nd) 🥳
Life Changing. Life Saving. Confidential.
Created by the Wisconsin Department of Justice (DOJ) Office of School Safety (OSS), the SPEAK UP, SPEAK OUT Resource Center is a comprehensive, one-stop place to turn with important concerns, offering a Threat Reporting System, Behavioral Threat Assessment and Management, Critical Incident Response and General School Safety Guidance.
Students, parents, school staff, or any community members can submit a school safety concern or threat. Resource center staff work around-the-clock to respond to tips and to deploy a response locally by communicating directly with school administrators, law enforcement, and counselors. Nationwide, more than half of public middle and high schools now operate a tipline.
