Heights Happenings
Eastern Heights Elementary School, May 2024
Welcome May!
Hard to believe, isn't it? The school year seems to have gone so quickly. As I finish my first year as the principal of EHES, I want to say THANK YOU to incredible community that I am so proud to be a part of. To our families, thank you for sharing your students with us ~ they bring us so much joy, laughter and pride. To our students, thank you for being you! Continue to be curious and interested ~ we love watching you grow and learn. And finally, to the incredible staff of dedicated adults who work here, you're amazing to work with and to watch.
Lots of end of the year activities are scheduled for the next few weeks so please be sure to consult the May calendar. You will also find links to summer activity programming; if you are interested in getting your child involved, click the links to find out what ECSD is offering.
Our Scholastic Book Fair is the week of May 13th. If you are interested in volunteering, please use the PTO link below. We'd love to see you!
As always, I am so grateful your involvement and participation in our school and your child's education. Please reach out to me at Eastern Heights if you have questions, concerns or just want to say hi!

This request will help us to provide interventions with your student's teacher as needed. There is no need to fill this form out if your child is already receiving supports, those will continue as usual.
Summer Activities for Students
Are you looking for summer activities for your child? Take a look at the opportunities here:
Safety Drill Update
With safety as a top priority of the Eastern Heights Campus staff, we want you to be aware that you may see us outside practicing a drill as we move into spring. Part of this practice includes having drills during chilly days or on days that there is a little rain. If you see students outside near dismissal, please remember to drive slowly and/or stop to allow the drill to proceed safely. And, be sure to have your student dress appropriately for the weather and know that we practice these drills with all our students to keep everyone safe!
EASTERN HEIGHTS CAMPUS TRAFFIC
Thank you for following our campus traffic rules and helping us keep our students & staff at arrival and dismissal. A few reminders:
- Please use crosswalks when walking your children to & from the building
- Refrain from stopping in a crosswalk; while cars are waiting to move, crosswalks must be free for people to cross
- There is no parking in the pickup lane during drop off or dismissal; this helps the flow of traffic move smoothly
- Cars should make only 1 lane of traffic on the campus (inside lane closest to the building); do not pull out and pass cars that are in the pick-up lane
- Drop-off & pickup your student using the spaces between the 2 orange cones directly in front of the building
Thank you for helping us make drop-off & pickup safety the #1 priority!
It's hard to believe that we are thinking about our end of the year activities! Please be sure to check your teacher's Class Dojo regularly for updates on events going on in the building.
APPROVED SNACK LIST
Sending a special snack into your child's classroom? Please use the list below to help you. This our 23-24 Approved Snack List. We thank you in advance for selecting snacks from the list. This ensures the health & safety of our students and staff.
