FirstView app helps families keep up with bus travel
Many CCSD 89 families can now track their student’s bus trips to and from school through the free FirstView busing app. Parents can download the FirstView app, which will show an estimated number of minutes until the bus will arrive at a bus stop and when buses arrive at school. Families should search for “FirstView” on the app store. (Please note: there is also a “FirstView 1.0” app that will not show CCSD 89 bus routes.)
The app only works for students riding First Student buses. It is not available for special education (Hopewell) transportation, early or late buses, or student field trips.
Learn more: www.ccsd89.org/busapp
Families can find menus, nutrition info online
Lunch menus for all CCSD 89 schools are available using the links at www.ccsd89.org/lunch Once you have opened a lunch calendar, clicking on any menu item will pull up nutritional information.

Reminder: Phones, smartwatches should be off and out of sight at school
Students have been receiving and sending messages from family and friends during the school day. These messages disrupt the learning environment for your child, their classmates, and the teacher. If you need to reach your child during the day, please contact the main office.
Cell phones, smartwatches, and other electronic devices must be kept out of sight in a backpack, purse, or locker during the school day. If a student violates these rules, the device will be confiscated and there may be disciplinary action.
Please have a conversation at home about the appropriate use of technology at school and why it is important that students can focus on their learning. More information is available on page 42 of the Student/Parent Handbook, CCSD 89 Board of Education Policy 7:192 – Student Use of Mobile Telecommunication Devices, and Board Regulation 7:192-R.
Remind your child to treat district technology devices with care
Families should have a conversation at home about the importance of appropriately using the district's technology devices. Appropriate use includes: carrying the device carefully, keeping liquids away, and not leaving devices in areas with extreme heat or cold. The district will charge families for replacement or repair of district technology devices. The full list of costs is available here: www.ccsd89.org/techdamage
CCSD 89 families that need support for iPad or Chromebook issues should use the district’s online help system. Enter your contact information and some details about the problem at: https://bit.ly/89techsupport
Know which health forms your student needs
