Summer 2024 at SSILC
Welcome Back!
Dear Seymour Smith Community:
Relief is in sight! Not only from the rainy humid days of summer, but also from the never ending snacking, and quest to keep the kids busy! You know who has been busy? The custodians! I thank them for all of their hard work in turning the building around for yet another school year.
I wish all of our new and returning families a wonderful end of the summer. I can't wait to greet all of you on September 4th!
The summer mailing was sent out last week. You should have found your child’s class placement, and supply list in the mailbox. Important information from the district and school including emergency forms will be sent home with your child on the first day of school. They need to be completed and returned to school promptly with your child. Please take the time to review this information carefully.
I realize there is so much information for families to digest. I encourage you to email me at any time, check the student handbook which may answer more questions, or give me a call at the office.
The faculty and staff at Seymour Smith are looking forward to the new school year. Enjoy the rest of your summer vacation, and I’ll see you in September!

Pine Plains Elementary PTA
The PTA supports and speaks on behalf of the children in our elementary schools, assists parents in developing the skills they need to raise and advocate for their children, and encourages parent involvement within the schools. Each year the PTA raises and distributes funds to support programs that enrich the school experience for children in our community. Over the years, the PTA supported such programs as scholarships, Teacher Appreciation Day, visiting authors & artists, Field Day, Holiday Shop, book fairs, EXPO, Fall pictures, PARP, 5th grade Moving Up, Ice Cream Social, Fall Festival, Family Fun nights, The Boo Thru, dances, The Science Fair, and more! All members of the community are invited and encouraged to join the PTA and attend the PTA meetings.
