Walk for Breakfast
We would like to take this opportunity to express our heartfelt gratitude to our school community for their steadfast support of our Annual Walk for Breakfast.
The Breakfast Program is essential in ensuring that every student at Sacred Heart Academy begins their day with a nutritious meal, laying the groundwork for successful learning and personal growth. Your ongoing support enables us to continue this important work, and for that, we are deeply grateful.
Additionally, we want to extend a sincere thank you to the local businesses, community organizations, and individuals who have generously contributed to the event. Your donations have a meaningful impact on the lives of our students, and we are truly appreciative of your generosity.
Halloween Costumes
Sacred Heart Academy students may wear Halloween costumes to school on Thursday, October 31st. However, they should be appropriate for the school environment. Students are expected to use good judgment and good taste in their choice of costumes. Costumes must be in accordance with the school dress code. No roller blades, skateboards, etc are permitted. Props must not present a safety hazard and must be in accordance with school policies, i.e. no guns, knives, swords, light sabres, etc. Any mask or costume that obscures a student’s face is not allowed. We encourage students to be creative, dress up with friends and have fun.
The allergy awareness policy prohibits students and staff from bringing food items into our school for distribution to classes. Students are encouraged to bring their own snacks to scheduled class celebrations.
Ronald McDonald House Pull Tab Program
Ms. Carla Warren's Grade 1 class is collecting pull tabs for the Ronald McDonald House Charities ® Newfoundland and Labrador. Families can drop off their pull tab collections to the school. Pull tabs are an easy way to help the environment and help families at Ronald McDonald House Charities ® Newfoundland and Labrador. These small pull tabs are a clean source of aluminum that are easy to store. The dollars raised from recycling pull tabs go directly to providing the programs and services for families at Ronald McDonald House Charities ® Newfoundland and Labrador. Collecting pull tabs is a simple way for even the smallest child to make a big difference! Taking care of the earth by recycling is just the tip of the iceberg. By donating your pull tabs to RMHC, you’re helping to provide a “home away from home” for sick children and their families during what could be the most difficult time of their lives.
Build the Habit of Good Attendance Early
School Bus Safety
As we are into the second month of school, bussing expectations should be well versed and followed by our student population. Unfortunately, the expectation of how to act and ride the bus is an everyday reminder to keep all our student’s safe. Please remind your children to respect the rules of the bus especially sitting in their seats properly, hands/feet to yourself, inside voice and most importantly showing respect for everyone riding the bus. These reminders go a very long way in keeping all our students happy and safe.
We want to remind parents/guardians and students of the following school district student transportation policies:
Bus Stop Supervision and Safety: The responsibility for the safe and timely arrival of students at a school bus stop, and the student’s safe return home from a bus stop, rests with the parent or guardian. Parents/guardians shall be encouraged to limit the time that students spend at the bus stop and to arrange for supervision of their children at the bus stop where appropriate.
Parent/Guardian Expectations: Parents/guardians are expected to support school bus safety and the efforts of the bus driver and school staff to maintain order, discipline and control of the bus. Ensure that their children are at the bus stop on time and supervised at the bus stop when necessary.
Kindergarten Students: Kindergarten parents/guardians should be outside on the stop waiting for your child to either get on or off the bus. The bus driver will not allow kindergarten students to leave the bus unless they can see a parent/guardian.
Additional information is available on the NL Schools website regarding student transportation policies.
