Attendance Incentive for MCAP Testing (ALL GRADE LEVELS)
Testing season has begun. This week students will be taking the MCAP Math. To decrease the number of students for make-up MCAP ELA and Math testing, we will be monitoring attendance very closely and providing an incentive for students to come to school on time for testing- Perfect Arrival (at school and in their testing classroom by 8:35 am). Since both tests are adaptive, all students MUST be present for the first day of testing in order to test the second day. It is important for scholars to get a good nights rest, eat a breakfast, and arrive to school on time. Scholars that arrive late or are absent on their testing days will be provided with a make-up day for testing. Please see the incentives below:
Incentives:
- MCAP ELA- Students with Perfect Arrival on MCAP ELA testing day will receive a dress down pass (via email) with specific information on the day it can be used.
- MCAP Math- Students with Perfect Arrival on math days will receive an invitation to an attenDANCE that will be held on Thursday, April 25th (6th/7th grade) and Friday, April 26th (8th grade).
We are also rewarding the sections that have Perfect Arrival with a sweet treat during one of the Tiger Times.
Testing Schedule:
4/8 and 4/9- MCAP ELA for both Grades 6 and 7
4/11 and 4/12- MCAP ELA for Grade 8
4/15 and 4/16- MCAP Math for both Grades 6 and 7
4/18 and 4/19 MCAP Math for Grade 8
Happy Testing!
Morning Drop Off
We are seeking your assistance and attention to the matter of morning drop offs.
As you may know, our school doors open at 8:15 a.m. for us to welcome the arrival of our wonderful scholars.
However, we have been seeing an influx of students being dropped off as early as 7:30 am and begin to walk around the school buildings with their friends, engage in playful behavior, and run around chasing their fellow schoolmates.
While safety and supervision is crucial during this time, it does become a hard task to monitor a crowd full of scholars and direct traffic.
We are reaching out to ask for your assistance to please drop off your scholars between 8:15 and 8:30 so that we can limit the amount of time a scholar is waiting for entry to the school.
Thank you for your understanding and partnership.
Attendance
Examples of Lawful Absences include: death in the immediate family, illness, suspension, observance of religious holidays, court summons, etc.
Please be sure to provide a note to the school when your child is absent. Electronic notes are also accepted using this link https://shorturl.at/kmoL4
Families are encouraged to refer to Administrative Procedure 5113 for more information.
Grading Policy Reminder
According to Administrative Procedure 5121, classes that meet 3-5 times per week require a minimum of 2 grades per week entered into SchoolMax and classes that meet 1-2 times per week require a minimum of 1 grade per week entered into SchoolMax. Additionally, please be mindful that AP5121 also states "Teachers must return graded papers and assignments within ten days of submission in order to provide on-going, timely feedback to students and parents."
SchoolMax Family Portal
Parents are encouraged to login regularly to monitor their scholar’s progress. Additionally, be sure to update your contact information in the Family Portal.
