The Lion King
North Elementary's production of The Lion King Kids! will be on Thursday, February 27th. All students will have an opportunity to watch the performance during the school day, however if you are interested in seeing the show in the evening, please use this link to reserve your tickets. We hope to see you there!
Student Use of Electronic Devices
Student Use of Electronic Devices- Per D47 Student Handbook
Students are prohibited from using electronic devices, except as provided herein. An electronic device includes, but is not limited to, the following: cell phone, smart phone, smart watch, audio or video recording device, personal digital assistant (PDA), ipod©, ipad©, laptop computer, tablet computer or other similar electronic device. Pocket pagers and other paging devices are not allowed on school property at any time, except with the express permission of the building principal. (Note: District 47 treats any electronic device with the capability to call, text, connect to the internet, or take photos as an electronic device. If a student needs to make an emergency call during the day, the student should request permission to go to the main office and use the phone. If parents need to contact their child during the day, they should call the school’s main office.)
During instructional time, which includes class periods, passing periods and lunch/recess, electronic devices must be kept powered-off or silenced and in the student’s locker unless: (a) permission is granted by an administrator, teacher or school staff member; (b) use of the device is outlined in a student’s individualized education program (IEP); or (c) it is needed in an emergency that threatens the safety of students, staff, or other individuals.
Yearbook Sale
Are you interested in ordering a yearbook for your child this year?

Families can create two custom pages for their child’s yearbook for free. Please follow the directions on the flier to design and upload your unique memories.
Yearbooks will be shipped to the school in May.

Winter 2025 FastBridge Results
Winter 2025 FastBridge results for students in all grade levels are now available for viewing in ParentVue. After logging in, please look under the Documents tab. If you need help with ParentVue, please email the parent help desk at hd@d47.org or call 815-788-5080.
Online Kindergarten Registration Is Now Open!
District 47’s online kindergarten registration for the 2025-2026 school year is now open! To register, visit the D47 website at d47.org/registration where you’ll find step-by-step instructions. Families who submit online kindergarten registration before March 21st will get a free T-shirt for their incoming kindergartener!
Kindergarten Dual Language Meetings
Informational meetings about District 47's Dual Language program will be held for parents who have an incoming kindergarten student for the 2025-2026 school year. If you are interested in placing your child into the program and you do not have a child currently enrolled in the dual language program, attendance is required at one of these meetings. Families who currently have a child enrolled in the dual language program MUST complete the registration process for their incoming kindergarten student by Friday, March 21 to guarantee their place in the program. Students with siblings in dual language registered after this date will be added to the waitlist.
Sodexo Future Chef Competition 2025

Early Entrance and Accelerated Placements
The application for early entrance to kindergarten/first grade and accelerated placements is now open. Parents/guardians must complete the application form on or before March 21, 2025. For information, eligibility, and application links, click here.

STAR Reading Volunteers Needed!
Our STAR Reading program is looking for more volunteers! Parents can spend time reading one-on-one with students, encouraging a love of reading in the classroom. Some classrooms still need support, and we’d love to fill those spots! Volunteers can help weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly.
Open slots include:
Multiple openings in Lopez, Nava, Ferguson, Meyer, Margiotta, Cue, and Sromek’s classrooms! If you’re already a STAR Reader, we’d love for you to consider helping out in another classroom or grade level that could use extra support! Save the Date: Savers Fundraiser Coming in March!
We’re excited to announce that our Savers Fundraiser is returning this spring! Start gathering your donations of clothing, shoes, and small household items. Clothing donations help us earn the most, so clear out those closets and make an impact! A U-Haul truck will be in the school parking lot to collect items—stay tuned for exact dates and times.
