Hello WFS Family,

We kicked off the month with our highly anticipated Family Literacy Night, showcasing engaging literacy stations, a bustling book fair, enthusiastic teacher guest readers, memorable photos with Ulysses, and plenty of superhero-themed excitement. It was wonderful to see such strong support from our families!

Additionally, our PBS team organized a successful 'Photos with Jay-Jay' event this month, raising funds for the Liv Like a Unicorn Foundation. Thank you to everyone who contributed to this meaningful cause.

Wrapping up the month, our PTO is hosting an exciting animal assembly that promises to be both educational and entertaining. In addition, report cards will be available to parents on the portal starting at noon on March 31st.

Kindergarten:

• Reading Tips for Parents of Kindergarteners

First Grade:

• Reading Tips for Parents of First Graders

Second Grade:

• Reading Tips for Parents of Second Graders

• Activity: Estimation Jar

• Materials: Jar, small objects (beans, buttons, etc.), paper and pencil for recording guesses

• Instructions: Fill a jar with small objects and have each family member make an estimate of how many objects are inside. Afterward, count the objects together and compare everyone's guesses. Discuss strategies for making good estimates.

• Math Focus: Estimation, number sense, and counting.

Grade Levels Tested:

• Grades 3-5: ELA and Math
• Grade 5: Science

Testing Window:

• 4/30 to 5/9 (Make-up: 5/12 to 5/30)

Last week, our 5th graders warmly welcomed guests from the Freehold Township Senior Center for a memorable morning of community connection. The event featured our students serving as gracious hosts, engaging in meaningful conversations, and sharing laughter over rounds of bingo with exciting prizes. We were incredibly proud to witness our students exemplify kindness and respect, embodying the spirit of community outreach. This event marks the beginning of a cherished tradition, and we eagerly anticipate fostering more connections across generations in the future.

When picking up students for parent pick up, please be sure you are parking in the designated parking spaces. Please do not park on the grass.

We'd like to remind everyone that breakfast is available for purchase in the cafeteria for all elementary school students. The menus are here. Students can go directly to the cafeteria when they come to school and grab a meal to bring to their classroom. All students who receive free lunch are also eligible to receive free breakfast. Regular price for breakfast is $2.05 and will be billed through the student's mealtime account.

Students dropped off for breakfast may enter the main doors at 7:45 A.M.

Spring has sprung and students are excited to get outside. Please keep in mind that as the weather warms up, students still need proper attire and footwear to play outside.

Students are permitted to bring cellular phones to school. Cell phones also shall include all other

electronic devices providing text messaging (Smart Watches) All phones and other electronic devices shall be turned off and placed in lockers or backpacks while the pupil is in school or at a school-sponsored event.
