Hello Primary Pups!
A Note from Mrs. Bagarozza (Mrs. B)
Hello Primary Pup Families,
Happy October! Thank you so much for attending Back to School night last week. The teachers and staff worked so hard to prepare the school for you. For those of you who signed up to be a class parent, thank you! We will be picking names out of a hat for classes that had more than 2 people sign up. We will let you know the results of this by the end of the week.
This month is a fun one as we learn about community helpers, pumpkins, and fall! We have many events planned that are centered around these themes and topics. This Thursday members of the Wall Township community will be coming to Primary School with their special vehicles to show our students. It will be our own mini "touch a truck." Toward the end of the month, our students will get a chance to pick pumpkins in the Wall Primary School "Pumpkin Patch." The students in our 4 yr old program will also take a trip to Atlantic Farms. We will share more information about these events in the upcoming weeks. Please note the times for our Halloween parades on 10/31 (shared below as well) are at 10 am and 1:45 pm. We can't wait to see you there!
Next week we will be celebrating the Week of Respect with our themed days, shared below. We will also send home a paper copy of the themed days with your children. We will read stories about respect and discuss ways to be respectful toward our friends, our family, and ourselves!

Tips from the WPS Staff
From the Desk of our District BCBA, Mrs. Blasi:
4 Tips to Support your Preschooler's Behavior and Emotional Regulation
1. Modeling: Show your child behavior you want to see. Let them see how you regulate your body when you’re feeling escalated. That being said, we are human and no one is perfect. Try to give yourself some grace. If you don’t model ideal behavior, reflect on that and try again next time. Schedule self-care time for yourself!!
2. Prompt for language: Your child is still working on developing language. Prompt them for the language that would be appropriate for the situation even if your child isn’t ready to imitate the entire word or phrase. Example: child screams when it’s time to clean up toys: prompt “I feel angry because I want to keep playing.”
3. Encourage independence: It’s okay to let your child “mess up” or not be able to complete something they’re trying to do. Praise the effort, not the result. Let your child practice problem solving and working through something that’s hard. Example: “I love how you’re working hard to put your own socks on!”
4. Validate feelings: Your child is showing this behavior for a reason, whether or not they can express that reason to you yet. Example: If your child cries and flops because they want to stay at the park, you can say “I see that you’re upset that we have to leave the park. It’s time to go home now, but we can come back tomorrow.”

WTPS Meal Application Information
Dear Parent/Guardian:
Children need healthy meals to learn. The Wall Township Board of Education offers healthy meals every school day at the prices listed on the WTPS website. Your children may qualify for free or reduced price meals and Summer EBT benefits.
The printable packet includes an application for free or reduced price meal benefits/ and a set of detailed instructions. For a convenient way to fill out the meal application go to https://www.payschoolscentral.com. WTPS utilizes PaySchools as an online lunch account for children to use to purchase lunch on a daily basis.
If your child received federal free or reduced price school meals during the 23-24 school year, please remember you need to complete a new application for the 24-25 school year prior to October 15, 2024.
If you choose to opt out from completing the meal application, you may fill out the linked Google Form.
If your children receive federal free or reduced price school meals, they may also be able to receive free or low-cost health insurance through Medicaid or NJ FamilyCare. Children with health insurance are more likely to get regular health care and are less likely to miss school because of sickness.
Because health insurance is so important to children's well-being, the law allows us to tell Medicaid and NJ FamilyCare that your children are eligible for free or reduced price meals, unless you tell us not to. Medicaid and NJ FamilyCare only use the information to identify children who may be eligible for their programs. Program officials may contact you to offer to enroll your children. Filling out the School Meals and Summer EBT Application does not automatically enroll your children in health insurance.
If you do not want us to share your information with Medicaid or NJ FamilyCare, you will have the option if submitting the meal application online via PaySchools or you may fill out the printable form and send in (Sending in this form will not change whether your children get free or reduced price meals).
Thank you for your cooperation.
