STUDENT(S) OF THE MONTH
In February the school focused on KINDNESS and our Student(s) of the Month were nominated for demonstrating this trait during the month!
COUNSELOR'S CORNER WITH MS. SERENITY
This month we will be adding two additional groups for our students: a spring Grief Group and Changing Families Group. Grief Group is for any student who wants help in processing the death of a loved one. This group will be co-facilitated with a counselor from HopeWest, our local hospice and grief support non-profit organization, and our own school counselor, Ms. Serenity. Ms. Serenity will also be adding a Changing Families Group in March to support our families who are impacted by parental separation, divorce, or other big changes at home. If you are interested in either of these groups or want more information, please contact Ms. Serenity for more information by March 6, 2024.
We also currently have two Calm Ninjas groups working on emotional regulation and our 4th grade girls’ Lunch Bunch with the Girl Scouts of America continues to meet on Thursdays during lunch. There are spaces available for more girls in our Lunch Bunch. Since all students must have a permission slip on file to participate in groups, please contact Ms. Serenity if you are interested in joining.
Lesson topics for March include:
5th grade will be finishing up their suicide prevention lessons by identifying trusted adults at home and at school
4th grade will wrap up their emotion management unit with a lesson on handling put-downs
3rd graders will practice managing anger and hurt feelings
2nd grade will be learning how to handle feeling excluded on the playground
1st graders will practice how to invite someone to join them in play
Kindergarteners will finish up their empathy unit by practicing how to handle accidents, plus how to show we care by helping others
If you have any questions about the comprehensive school counseling program at Taylor, please contact Ms. Serenity at 970-254-4870 ext 63100 or serenity@d51schools.org.

Taylor Closet
Don't forget that we have a closet full of all your basic apparel needs and hygiene products. Keep this in mind if your family could benefit from this opportunity. Students or family members can stop by the office to grab what they need or contact Mrs. Kuhn or Mrs. Steele.
Things to Do
We've compiled a list of things to do over spring break. Check it out here.
A WORD FROM PRINCIPAL WILSON
Dear Taylor Families,
It was great seeing many of our families at “Donuts With Your Darlings” on Valentines Day. We enjoyed having this time together and look forward to doing this tradition again next year. Thank you PTO for putting on such an amazing event!
It’s almost spring break! Just a week and a half until a much-needed break for our students and staff. Our 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade students have been working hard at preparing to take CMAS once we return from break. We will begin testing on April 1st this year and a more detailed schedule will be sent out to all of our 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade families soon.
Theme of the Month:
For the month of March, our theme will be Courage. Teachers will be discussing what courage means and how we can be courageous inside and outside of the school.
Thanks for all you do to support your child and our school! I hope you enjoy your spring break and do something you love with the ones you love!
As always, please reach out if you have any questions.
Respectfully,
Shawn Wilson
Taylor Principal
