Spotlight!
Deeper Learning Conference: Student Internship Spotlight!
Visitors from across the United States learned about the Met and how Big Picture Learning does internships. A group of 20+ educators visited Johnson's AutoHaven on Thursday, April 3, and learned from student Dion and mentor Mark about the internship experience. Dion and Mark were eloquent and generous with their time, and our visitors expressed their amazement that the Met is able to create and sustain a program where every single student is learning through an interest-based internship in the real world two days a week every semester from grades 9 through 12.

Upcoming Assessments
CAASPP for 11th grade - May dates
The CAASPP is the most important district and state testing of the year for 11th graders. All test results are reported to the state of California as part of assessing how our students are doing as compared to state averages. It is crucial for our 11th grade students to be present at school on time for the following test sessions:
- CAASPP ELA – Thurs, May 1, 9am-12pm. This is an internship day so students and advisors must communicate with mentors to excuse the morning.
- CAASPP Math – Wed, May 7, Periods 4 and 5
- CAST Science– Fri, May 9, Periods 1 and 2
PSAT 10th Grade - Thursday, April 17
This PSAT testing opportunity is specifically for 10th graders ONLY. For more details and to sign up, please contact Siv Verdun at sdavis1@sandi.net.
FitnessGram for 9th Graders ONLY - April 23

Mesa College Registration for Summer and Fall starts on April 14
Mesa College class schedules for Summer and Fall will be available on the San Diego Mesa College website on April 14. At that time your students will be able to begin selecting the classes they want to take.
During the time leading up to the schedule release, students should consider the following:
- Decide what classes they are going to take in the upcoming terms.
- If students plan to take a summer class, they will be reserving classes for two terms (Summer and Fall).
- Students should not take a summer class if they have an otherwise busy summer.
Notable registration dates:
- The summer registration deadline for Met students will be 4/18/2025 (4 days after the schedule release).
- The fall registration deadline for Met students will be 5/5/2025.
~PARENTS!~ Please urge your students to begin the process of deciding what courses to take in the upcoming terms.
Students can use the CSU/UC transfer course sequence when choosing classes. They can also choose courses based on personal interest, as well as review what courses would enable them to pursue career and certification pathways that are available through Mesa.
Any students who need support can check in with their Advisors or Mr. Moravec.
