Hello Dorr Families,
What an AMAZING year we have had at Dorr Elementary! Being named a National Blue Ribbon School of Excellence AND a Capturing Kid's Hearts National Showcase school all in one year was so exciting for our staff, families and our community. But we realize that the work does not stop there. We are already planning for next year! We will continue to grow and strive for academic and social/emotional excellence. We can't wait to see where the road takes us next year! But for now, we celebrate an amazing year filled with amazing growth. On behalf of the entire Dorr staff, we wish you a safe, healthy and happy summer break. Take time to enjoy the little joys that the summer brings. Slow down and watch the clouds pass by. Bask in the glow of the warm summer sun. Recharge.
We can't wait to see you in the fall! But for now, HAPPY SUMMER BREAK!
Warm Regards,
Mrs. Seniura

Distinguished Artist - JT Datema
Dorr Elementary has a Distinguished Artist Program in which student artwork is on display like an art gallery for the school year. Each year 9 students are chosen as a Distinguished Artist. The distinguished artist is a student who is responsible in art, shows their creativity and works hard on all projects. Ms. Corcoran chooses 3 to 4 pieces of artwork in which the students followed directions and completed the project adding their creativity. A committee of staff members then votes on the projects to choose the winner.
Congratulations, JT Datema!

3rd Grade Dorr Business Association Citizenship Awards
Congratulations Mariana Smallegan!
Citizenship is defined as the sense of belonging to a community and having the rights and responsibilities that come with it. So what makes a good citizen? A good citizen cares for herself and others, is continuously learning, builds positive friendships, and does her part as a member of a community. Mari does all of these things and more. She is a very respectful and responsible friend and student, even when no one is looking. Schoolwork comes easy to her but she never takes the easy way out. She is constantly learning, looking for a challenge and doing her best work. She is an exceptional leader and can often be seen helping other students with their work in a very patient and helpful manner. Mari is an encouraging friend both in and out of the classroom. Finally, this young lady values and respects the community of students around her. She is an incredible role model for all and others follow her lead, making us all better people when we are near her. Congratulations Mariana Smallegan on being the recipient of our Dorr Business Association award this year.
Congratulations Cameron Bottrall!
If you have ever had the privilege of working with Cameron Bottrall, you know that he leaves a special mark on your heart.
His many superpowers make him a wonderful candidate for this award. His greatest is kindness. Cam can look around a room and see a person who needs kindness, seek them out, and put a smile on their face. He himself has an infectious smile that lights up any space he is in.
His second superpower is showing initiative - like kindness he can look around a room and see a problem, a job, or something that needs to be done and just do it without being asked. His first-grade teacher said - “ If I have a sub, he could be in charge, he knows exactly what to do.”
This year's recipient is responsible. He is a bus ambassador, a peer-to-peer mentor, and works very, very hard on his schoolwork. Congratulations Cameron Bottrall on being recognized as a recipient of this year's Dorr Business Association CItizenship Award.

3rd Grade Completes Final Science Project
3rd Graders in Mrs. Licari's 3rd grade class completed their final science project of the year. And boy did they save the best for last. Students spent the day dissecting owl pellets. They were able to investigate all sorts of different things during this activity including what the owl may have had to eat. What a fun way to end the year!
